Yep, so many missed boats. Tim Cahil and Tim Howard both offering huge inroads into commercial opportunities for instance - not seized upon. Same with James.

Poorly run as we know
Nobody really cares about this. The only thing that brings commerical opportunities is success. Most people who are the target for these inroads already have clubs that they support.

We have done tours to these places, people no doubt go and watch us and think "nah, crap them" and continue to support Manchester United or whoever.

Frank should have gone after Bournemouth, a new manager should have been given the Wolves, Southampton and West Ham games to target a bounce and make some progress in distancing from the bottom 3. Instead, we lost all 3, have the joint lowest points, and the manager is potentially getting sacked at the WORST time. Next 2 games are Arsenal and Liverpool and it’s almost certainly messing up incomings. ‘No second incoming?’ just refuse to believe it’s not because of the utter turmoil of who is going to be in charge
We've been making the same mistake for years.

We should change our motto to: "A day late and a dollar short".

Ndiaye looks a brilliant player, he’s only young and hasn’t played much professionally. Would make sense if we were looking to play 2 up top. Though, as far as second strikers in the championship go I’d want Joao Pedro over anyone!
We’re absolutely not looking to play 2 up top, Lampard would rather play 7 defenders

At the time we were top 5-6 regularly and both players were well respected back home. It feels like we should have done more at the time to make more in roads in to that

I also blame the board, but that's more because of the mistakes of the past coming back to haunt them. As far as not buying players this month goes, that's not really a problem which can be solved straight away. We can't just go out and buy players and that's the fault of the owner and board, no arguments, but it's the reasons we can't do that which are what I have an issue about, not the actual fact that we haven't.
Absolutely, you’re bang on. It’s years of mismanagement that have put us in this position this month, last summer and the summer before under Benitez. All coming home to roost now. We needed to get some forwards and creative players in as soon as the window opened but couldn’t because of the financial position they’ve put us in. So annoying and leaves the DoF and manager carrying the can for their years of incompetence.

I thought the idea of a DoF was that they bought players to fit a certain style and whoever the coach is understands and works to those parameters

That said, this is Everton so who knows
The DoF's job is to implement the overall strategy of the club, which is given to him by the board of directors when he is hired.

The DoF should then hire a head of recruitment and coach to work within those parameters. If they need hiring. If they are there already, the DoF is still their boss, so to speak.

A HoR still hasn't been officially hired in the 11 months Thelwell has been here and apparently the one who is getting the job is an internal promotion, which makes even less sense.

Their dynamics changed with Trippier tbf.

But there were genuinely some Evertonians who said Patterson was better this time last year.
Lets face it here, if the players had gone to the other club Trippier would be an injury prone hasbeen who we paid too much for and are stuck with on a long term contract and Patterson would be a great up and coming player who we should have got for buttons.

We seem to ruin every player.
