Player Valuation: £70m
Right, we had quality players in the wings. They are, they have got the ability, we all see it. However, we stick with stagnant players who only look good due to the creative ability of others. When they are not there, we lose that edge - that's pretty clear.

Even though I feel we should still beat teams like Pompey - it obviously didn't work today.

So we had Gosling, Rodwell and Baxter, plus Wallace and Agard.

The latter two I know little about, but the first three - they all have quality. They can pass, they can tackle, they have perfect balance, desire, ambition, a need to prove themselves. Get them in the ******* side. Don't want to have foreign mercenaries or midfielders who just can't cut it.

So if I'm to bring in those 3 players. Who would I replace them with?

Rodwell for Neville, with Neville reverting to Right Back. Gosling for Osman on the right wing, with Pienaar moving to the left. I would bring Fellaini back into CM, and replace Jo with Baxter, who would play just off Saha.

That for me would offer more, than what we have seen today. And before anyone says, well we won last week, yeah but we weren't convincing were we?

I agree with Neville going to right back and Rodwell coming in. Also Gosling for Osman. I hope Baxter gets a few games also ahead of Jo....Though i doubt that will happen.

Neville is needed in the middle, he shouldn't be moved anywhere.

Gosling is half decent at best and is still learning, that was clear to see in the last few games he played. It was clear to see today when he beat his man, cut back and cut back against. He'd offer nothing Osman wouldn't.

Rodwell is probably needed in there if Cahill isn't fit, he's a better option than the drifter than is Fellaini. If Cahill's fit then it's him and Neville in the middle.

Baxter is obviously nowhere ready, he's not even a regular for the reserves and has struggled with injuries this season. Sometimes you just have to be realistic, he won't get a game and isn't a realistic candidate.

Hmm? You say obvious, that means you trust the manager 100%, right?

Well I do, but I also wonder at his selections. What harm is there on bringing the lad on for the last 10 or 15 minutes? Even to give him some experience, and offer something different.

Mmmm English players of course play for the love of the game and the smell of freshly mown grass etc.

And it's You're the manager.

Hey, that's my honest opinion. I will always prefer to see an Englishman in the side over a foreigner. I can give you a list of foreigners who have come over here just for the cash.

Moyes obviously doesn't think he's ready, he was forced into using him at the start of the season and has barely used him since.

Is a player who isn't even a regular for the reserve team going to play for us? I very much doubt it. It's about being realistic really, he isn't a realistic option.

Gosling, Osman, Pienaar and at a stretch Jo are our only realistic wide players. The likes of VDM, Wallace and Baxter won't be used.

Sure it is.
And I can give you a list of players who play for jelly tots and the promise of getting their picture in Shoot.

Remember Pompey are a decent side and were running at 6th-7th before Deer in Headlights came in as manager. They match up well against us. They have the size to beat us on corners and the size to defend our corners and the 1st goal should have never been a corner plus I think Howard got mugged on the 2nd. They are Bolton if Bolton had actual talent on their squad. We were a flaming pile of dog crap today, it happens.

As far as using other players, Pompey is a veteran team, they might have found a way to boss Rodwell, Baxter etal.

Seriously Ghost its got nothing to with nationality.

You make you list and i could make one full of English mercenaries who are just after the money.

But there's no need to go down that road.

There is no guarantee that bringing in players like Rodwell, Gosling and Baxter from the start would of improved our performance today.

I'm sure Moyes had started with them and we lost he would of got slated for playing inexperienced youngsters while leaving more experienced pros on the bench.

I know they need games to get that experience and they should of come on earlier but playing them too much and putting repsonisbilty on their shoulders can have a negative effect.

yeah but it can't harm the lad by throwing him on for 15 minutes?

Well there is the language barrier which was the reason Fellaini had such a poor start to the season.

Maybe, but the fact of the matter is that the PL would be poorer if the foreign players left. So the argument doesn't really hold true beyond individual cases, mate.
