Derby County - Kieran Dowell played full match in 0-0 home draw with Swansea City

88' | @MWaghorn_9 meets @KieranDowell1's cross but his header is just off target with @RichardKeogh_6 lurking...

Fan comments
"Dowell - 6 At times I was thinking duck me why have we bought him that was awful, his set piece delivery was abysmal and he lost the ball a lot and was poor defensively. On the other hand he showed some good touches, played a nice pass out wide to Malone late on and was our main creative spark in midfield."
"Dowell 7 involved lots, good engine, some decent passes but last ball was a real bad one generally"
"Dowell = 2 or 3 nice touches, he is skilled but he isn’t Mason Mount and without the ball looks a bit half hearted to me"
"Dowell 7 too inconsistent today. Some decent football but got caught out too often on the ball and passing wasn't great at times"
"Dowell showed some neat turns and touches, but then would typically follow that up with something wasteful. I get the feeling he will prove to be a luxury we can’t really afford."

Reading - Joao Virginia played full match in 1-2 away defeat to Hull City

OS Match Report
"But Bowen did soon get the game’s first goal. It was Kamil Grosicki who wriggled clear on the Hull left and chanced his arm from a tight angle, striking the base of João Virginia’s post. The ball broke kindly for Bowen to hammer in from inside the six-yard box."
"But the reminders were there that the Tigers still had threats of their own; danger-man Bowen tested Virginia with a vicious effort as he went outside on the right."

86' Chance for the hosts. Hull force their way through as Bowen jinks his way into the box - getting a shot away but Virgínia holds on.

Fan comments
"Virginia might as well be wearing face paint and clown shoes with his effort" (for one goal)
"Another shocking start to the season. Virginia, Richards, Meite the weak points"
"Virginia 4 - actually went long at times but beaten at his near post for 1st goal"
"Virginia having a howler for the fist goal today, I defended him last week but no excuse for that today."
"Virginia - 1 - Better second half but no excuse for their first."

Hull City - Josh Bowler and Matthew Pennington were both unused subs in the above match

League One
Burton Albion - Nathan Broadhead made his debut and scored his first professional goals for the 2-1 away win at Gillingham and was substituted in the 86th minute

OS Match Report
"The difficulty of contending with the windy conditions was evident from the off with Edwards making a good run through the middle and trying to find Broadhead with a pass square to his left until the wind got hold of the ball and pushed it straight to home keeper Bonham in completely the opposition direction."
"Broadhead's free kick was fed back to Edwards just outside the box and his low effort was spilled by Bonham but Broadhead was unable to steer it past the young keeper."
"Fraser burst forwards again and picked out BROADHEAD out on the left, the youngster unerringly finding the corner of Bonham's net from 20 yards on the angle with a sumptuous first time finish. An early contender for goal of the season for sure."
"And the Everton loanee was at it again three minutes later this time from all of a couple of yards finishing off Edwards low cross after good work from the Australian inside the box to latch onto Akins' astute pass."
"Broadhead had his eyes on a hat-trick in the latter stages, Bonham cutting out a Boyce cross intended for him at the far post and when Fraser won a free kick 25 yards out in a central position there was only one man with designs on taking it and he wasnt far away with a curling effort that dipped just wide.
There was a third chance for the youngster on 83 minutes skipping past two clumsy challenges but rather than go for the tight angle at the near post he tried to square to Boyce allowing Bonham to intercept and Boyce was not far away from a first goal of the season with a low drive across the keeper that missed the far post as well.
Broadhead was then substituted with five minutes remaining as Reece Hutchinson came on to shore things up down the left hand side after a memorable afternoon for the Welsh under-21 international."

Post-game interview with Broadhead

20. CLOSE! Real chance. Boyce takes down Broadhead's free kick into the box and tees up Edwards, whose low shot is spilled by Bonham. Broadhead follows up, but Bonham somehow smothers it.
25. Good run from Broadhead, cutting in from the left, but drives one right-footed high and wide.
42. What a way to get your first senior goal, and our first of the season! Fraser finds Nathan, who cuts in from the left and curls one right-footed to the bottom-right corner from 25yds. Stunner
45. Edwards finds space on the right to beat a man and put a powerful low ball in. @BroadheadNathan is in the right position to turn it in from point-blank range. Poacher's finish!!
83. CLOSE! Very nearly a hat-trick for @BroadheadNathan as he curls a 20-yard free kick, central, just over the crossbar.
85. CLOSE! Broadhead does brilliantly to skip past two challenges, then tries to pull back to Boyce but Bonham collects it well. Then Boyce is put in by Akins but pulls his shot from a tight angle just wide.
87. #Brewers substitution: @BroadheadNathan @reecehutxchyA deserved standing ovation for the on-loan @everton man as Reece replaces him on the left wing.

Fan comments
"Fantastic day for Broadhead who showed his class, reminds me of Michael Owen a bit?"
"Broadhead could be a real find."
"Broadhead , Boyce and Akins guilty of missing chances but Broadhead coming back with 2 goals. His first a cracker !!!! I think this lad is going to be massive for us this season. His confidence must be sky high long may it continue."

DFB Cup
Schalke 04 - Jonjoe Kenny played full match in 5-0 win against SV Drochtersen/Assel

Fan comments
"He looks better and safer from game to game, which is not surprising since he usually was usually a sub at Everton."
"Liked his performance a lot, but also had to smile at how hard he went in in some instances (although he wasn't unfair). Carry on like that."
"Had 2-3 real slip-ups, but fair and simply healthy hardness. Definitely refreshing and I think with increasing playing practice he can be very helpful this season."
"Played in the second half right in front of me. Very solid. Good speed. Communicated a lot with Nastasic, Stambouli and Cali. Was however knackered from the 70th minute onwards."
"Hmm, didn't think he was as good as people have been making out. There were two or three basic errors from him."
"He's growing on me - not many defensive errors and strong in the challenge."
"Well played. Can put a pass from one side of the pitch onto the foot of his colleague on the other side. Not to be sniffed at."

Korede Adedoyin was not in match-day squad for Hamilton.

Both goals from Broadhead were decent though quite different, it’ll be great for his confidence. Garbutt s goal for Ipswich was with his right foot and he seemed to be playing in a midfield position , but difficult to tell - he was nowhere in the picture at left back for Sunderland’s goal but that’s fairly normal for him.
