This poll is a joke and solely intended to try and belittle a poster for a comment he made.

Of course Blues want us to win every game BUT if you gave me a cast iron guarantee that Brown shoes would be sacked if we lost today, I'd take the loss for the bigger picture. However, that's not how it works and therefore I obviously want us to get a result today. I think this is the point Matty was trying make, and we've ended up with a visible poll result where anyone choosing Yes will be stone to death on here, as there's no context applied.

The poll is now private by the way, thanks Mods, appreciated.

I haven't had the time to read all this thread but it's not a great idea in my opinion - not sure why there's the need to cause greater division among Blues at a time when tensions are high.

I'm logging for the night now, if it gets out of hand happy to see it closed, it was an interesting comment in the Martinez thread that made this.

I find the idea abhorrent but as I live so far away I may be out of touch.

What we want is a manager who wins games. Who it is doesn't matter, unless his methods are questionable or his style of football unappealing, but that judgement is a luxury only afforded to those who win trophies regularly. I'd be delighted if Martinez starts winning. His first season promised so much, his style of football is, at its best, terrific, and I like his apparent understanding of the club. He has lost the plot, it seems, though, and I'd be amazed if he can find it again. I can see us winning the cup, but not improving in the league. A one-off success like that would be sweet, but we have the chance to challenge for the title regularly now. The perfect scenario for me would be winning the cup and Martinez being offered and accepting the Spain job, so all concerned can move on without losing face, and we can get a manager who meets the demands of the league.

I am not comfortable with the idea of people wanting Everton to lose a game in order to hasten a manager's demise.

It just doesn't seem right.

Then again, I wanted City to beat us and save the universe two years ago so I feel I am in no position to chastise anyone who voted yes.

And I will happily take a defeat at Leicester in a few weeks if that match is vital to their prospects of winning the EPL.

But I voted no in this Poll.

Agree with the sentiments, apart from the bit in bold. Love us being party poopers!

Who made you the arbiter of what's acceptable for Blues to think like?

I thought you were going out btw?

Thanks for addressing my first reply to you mate, appreciated.

Not the arbiter at all, just my opinion, being a forum and all. Not every post has to end with "in my opinion", on a forum that should be a given.

My logic is that bar the cup games (which I obviously don't want us to lose) we are in a completely meaningless string of league games between now and the end of the season. The clown has to go one way or another and if these last run of games which unfortunately are about as irrelevant as can be can help seal his fate I wouldn't have an issue with it.

But wanting your beloved Blues to lose football games?

It's not made to belittle anyone, it's called debating, in fact I would call your first 5 words belittling.

I think it addresses an underlying issue in the Martinez thread and is obviously one that many people feel passionate about. You're more than welcome to not come back into it mate.

That'll be why you've been poking Matty with a stick since you created it.

From memory there were a few who didn't mind if we lost but most of us found that a very hard notion to swallow.

Au contraire.....it was a very easy pill to swallow especially as Tottenham's defeat earlier that day meant we couldn't be caught for fifth place.

There was a euphoric mood in the environs of Goodison as we left the ground that day given what that result meant in the greater scheme of things ;)

Now, from what I recall, the attitude among posters on here at the time was that the further away one lived from Liverpool, the less the support for EFC losing.

Those of us who faced living amidst the gloat fest that Summer 2014 promised to be before Demba Ba day were, if not happy enough to lose, certainly not overly bothered that we did :)
