What we want is a manager who wins games. Who it is doesn't matter, unless his methods are questionable or his style of football unappealing, but that judgement is a luxury only afforded to those who win trophies regularly. I'd be delighted if Martinez starts winning. His first season promised so much, his style of football is, at its best, terrific, and I like his apparent understanding of the club. He has lost the plot, it seems, though, and I'd be amazed if he can find it again. I can see us winning the cup, but not improving in the league. A one-off success like that would be sweet, but we have the chance to challenge for the title regularly now. The perfect scenario for me would be winning the cup and Martinez being offered and accepting the Spain job, so all concerned can move on without losing face, and we can get a manager who meets the demands of the league.
