Au contraire.....it was a very easy pill to swallow especially as Tottenham's defeat earlier that day meant we couldn't be caught for fifth place.

There was a euphoric mood in the environs of Goodison as we left the ground that day given what that result meant in the greater scheme of things ;)

Now, from what I recall, the attitude among posters on here at the time was that the further away one lived from Liverpool, the less the support for EFC losing.

Those of us who faced living amidst the gloat fest that Summer 2014 promised to be before Demba Ba day were, if not happy enough to lose, certainly not overly bothered that we did :)
words of wisdom for all

I'm not gonna lie, I was a little chuffed.

However as you say results had already come in.

A few posts have mentioned a certain Man City match . Though the feelings about the game were weird , Everton tried their hardest to win it . And deserved , at least , a draw .

I wanted us to lose that game. Still celebrated Barkley's goal, but was delighted we lost.

But that was for a sensible reason - not irrationally hoping to get our own manager sacked.

If he starts winning games and we suddenly turn into the Invincibles, I'll be happily eating humble pie about Martinez. Won't happen obviously, but still.

The attitude of the club and the players was both honourable and professional.

I was still glad we lost, though :)

Being chuffed that Everton got beat mate?

But your family, your religion, your life? Surely not.....what a disgrace ;)

You see.....context

Can we close this now?

A little chuffed that it stuffed Liverpool, not that we lost. Definitely context. Yours is missing however.

The thing about whether we want the team to win or lose really doesn't matter does it? As interesting as it is it makes no actual difference.

The Man City game was a great example. I didn't want us to lose. Loads of other people did. Because of the Liverpool connotations.

But what was clear the players wanted to win that game. And it's them that really matter in a subject like this as its they who can actually make a difference.

Very interested to see today's line up and possibly even more so the players mind set.

You do this a lot mate, tell us that our posts don't mean much. No offence, but we all know this x
