Would you sell Jelavic?

You're just desperate to claw back some respectability after saying he'd be worse than Beattie lad. He's already scored more than James, for the record.

I tend to judge players on their performances, not predefined notions of their ability based on league of origin combined with utter s***e.

Last season he was boss, this season he hasn't been. It's that simple.

To be fair, I said before he arrived he wasnt good enough for us. I changed my mind a fair bit and acknowledged by the end of last season that I was mistaken...but not to rush to judge him as a success until he'd had a full season under his belt.

I'm not trumpeting my own wise words here (I thought he'd continue apace too), I'm just flagging up that you shouldn;t be too quick to dig into the vaults to pull someone up when the evidence to make it stick was way too thin on the ground.

Back to Jelavic, second season syndrome personified, not a terrible year, just very average after so much expectation. If it was a school report then his performance would read "must do better".

Looking at the pattern of his goalscoring this season, I actually wonder if he might have come back too soon from his injury against Newcastle in September (colliding with the post). He was scoring prior to that knock and then played three or four games in quick sucession after coming back. Perhaps rushing back aggravated something? It was only after we had the break in October that he started to struggle. 6 of his 8 goals came before Christmas, and 4 of those 6 came before October 7th....

Maybe I'm just reading too deeply into it.

Welbeck has two goals in over 30 starts this season. He is badly gash.

To be "fair" to Welbeck, he has played a LOT of games in an inside forward/wing postion.

But it doesnt hide away from the fact that he defines gashness, hes a headless chicken prone to moments of quality, he will not make a top player, I can totally see him at Sunderland in 2-3 Years.

I don't know why people need to blame other people for a striker that can't stay onside and falls over his own feet at least once a match.

He's been uber turd and Moyes has still give him pitch time when most of us would have give Vellios a go first.

Another season, but this offseason needs to have another striker come in. The competition must be there.

Jelavic lost his job to anichebe, and thats not saying much.

(Big Vic did have a decent season, his first, but that's not what you want from your primary striker etc)

You know how we often in conversations about players we say, yeah he's not exactly the best available, but he's a good option to have off the bench
I DO NOT WANT JELAVIC TO BE AN OPTION OFF THE BENCH
sell.
