Would you see Rodwell go for 30m?

I wouldn't want to sell anyone, but if we could get £30 million for Rodwell, take it. Firsly we are well covered in central midfield , he aint even a 1st choice regualar when were at full strength.

And personally, i don't see why there is all this mega hype about rodwell. I cant think of too many games he has stood out and can think of a few where he has been all but anonymous. I think he is a good player, potentially very good. But £30 million ? Take the money. And not because we are short of cash - but because with £30 million i reckon we could buy better.

"I saw him play at 17 in the under 21 world cup, he was one of the best players in the torunament and that included, the likes of Ozil and much of the German team that got to the semi final of last years senior world cup."

I saw Freddy Adu outplay everybody but Kun Ageuro at the U-19 World cup and that tourney had players like Pato in it. It doesn't mean all that much.

Rodwell is going to be pretty good though. However he still makes alot of mistakes on defense and is getting Stevie G disease with these Row Z moon shots. I think he'd be good on a team that attacks alot and has the majority of possession like Man Utd though. He's deadly when the game is wide open and chaotic. The hype is there b/c he's English, young and possibly there will be Fair play rules. This is why we should get plenty of money for him.

He didn't put a foot wrong to be fair. Lack a creativity was at fault in those games, not him. He made us keep possession.
He is already a good player and will surely get better. But for £30 million a buyer will be surely be looking for more than just possession. Maybe its the players he is surrounded with, but with the exception of that goal against Man U ( when we were already winning, man u were loose) , I can't think of a single moment that Rodwell has made me go wow!

But when I heard we might get £30 million for him I certainly did go wow!

Andy Carroll, the not really a terror of the championship andy carroll, was 35M. When a rich club wants you they'll pay anything.

If we do sell him we should make sure its £30 million cash. Not £10 down and the rest in dribs and drabs and dependant on appearances.

When has andy Carroll, chris smalling, jack wilshire, gary Cahill etc done something to make you go wow? But they're rated £20million players.

Big teams will break the bank to sign young talent that can slip into a side and get better. You say they'll be wanting more than just possession, then you've got to ask how many midfielders can keep a team ticking and keep hold the ball for their team at 20 years old? Because he's not drilling 30yarders in or beating 7 players every week shoulndt take away the talent the lad has with the stuff teams build around - pace, possession, strength, composure. The funny thing is, if rodwell starts doing those wow things, £25-30mill you've spent on him turns into £40mill and a vital part of the team.

I personally think well get £25mil plus add ons. Take away opinions of his talent and think about his age, the fact you'll get over 10 years of service out if him, and the fact he's on a 4 year contract starts you're bidding at 10mill ... Then you debate what his talent is worth on top of that.

He'll be a player a side can build a spine from.

Did Wilshere not wow you in the first leg against Barca? A 19 year old lad was the best player in possession on a pitch that included Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, etc. Looked every bit a £20m player.

I don't think you could buy Wilshere right now. I don't even think there's a price for players of that quality. And unless Arsenal went on a rapid decline either at board room level or on the pitch, then he'll be going nowhere for a very long time.

Arguably the same could be said of Carroll and Smalling. I don't think any team will bid for Rodwell this summer, because at the moment he's only worth around £10m. And we wouldn't flog him for that no matter how skint we are. Secondly i don't think any top team has a real problem area in the middle of the pitch.

Chelsea have Essien, Mikel, Lampard and Ramires. United have Scholes, Anderson, Gibson, Carrick and Fletcher. City have De Jong, Barry, Toure, Vieira and Milner. Arsenal have Wilshere, Diaby, Song, Ramsey and Fabregas.

Now Rodwell is good but i don't think for a minute United have seen enough from him to pay £20-30m for him when they don't really need him, they've not exactly got money to burn, and he isn't deemed good enough to break into a much weaker Everton midfield.

Portuguese press ir saying that Rodds has been sold for 29M€ (maybe some 26/27M) to United.

It should only be announced at the end of the season.

That was my point. He's not doing wow stand out moments, he's a lad who doesn't look out of place and keeps possession, keeps the team ticking and can only get better.

All I agree with is that rodders certainly needs to play week in week out. But like wilshire IMO he has the potential but time is on his side.
