Would you see Rodwell go for 30m?

we`ve had a bad season is all, we have progressed for sure over the last 8-9 yrs, its leaping to the next level which is a mammoth task. is it wortrh risking a leeds/portsmouth type gamble which would surely fail as opposed to steady progress. keep the faith cooker and shave that freakin muzzy off

Haha i'll bear it in mind mate !

I wouldn't quite agree with it just being a bad season, i do think our squad and manager have been found out this season somewhat. Obviously we are better than we are showing, but our squad size and more importantly depth is a big concern. A couple of injuries to key players, and we are really exposed. Reinforcements are needed if we are to remain in the top half next season though.

Worryingly its not just the top 6 that are spending and pulling away from us. At least four or five teams below us are going to be spending this summer. If your not moving forward in this game, your only going backwards, and until theres a cash injection of some form, we're not going to move forward.

Couldn't agree more with that Neiler.

it just seems an odd time to high-light our `not shooting from distance` after all the shots we had against Birmingham......just sayin

..then we'll be accused of knee jerk reactivitus and we'll be better off supporting the other lot. :p

I think people need to be realistic. Every club, given the right price for their player, is a selling club. Every club has to sell at the right price and I think getting a massive fee for an overpriced player i.e. Lescott is exactly the right way to run a football club, the manager just has to ensure he has a good replacements lined up, whilst he can then better other weaker positions where players may be ageing.

I think that either Fellaini or Rodwell will go in the summer, certainly not both, but one will. If we tie Fellaini down, then Rodwell goes, if we don't, then Fellaini goes. I also don't mind this in the slightest if we get a massive fee and buy 2 or 3 quality players to replace the one. Losing Rodwell and gaining Matty Jarvis, Andy King, and Hugo Rodallega (I choose these because they will all be championship next year) for example hardly seems like bad business to me.

I'd take 10m, he's not that good.

it's only potential he has. An in most game this season he's shown nothing. If the offer a good amount. SELL!!!

i`ve been titting round mate. sorry. a couple of dough-nuts on another thread decided we shoot like no-bodys business coz of ONE game and stupid me decided to carry some sarcasm into this thread where it doesnt belong. i actually agree with everything posted about us being shot-shy

We're a club in decline whether he stays or goes mate. Every year each player gets a year older, Neville, Distin, Cahill and Saha aren't going to get any better, and we've got no money to bring in reinforcements. Until that changes we'll forever be a mid-table selling club at best. Thats the grim reality.

Sad but true!!

My gut feeling is that it has already been done in principal....shame but in our position currently we need to sell to survive...Fellaini will be the bigger loss IMO.

I honestly don't think we can afford to turn one player into three. I don't think we can support the wages. Maybe once we clear out Yak et al but even then, with the shortfall on league finish money and no Euro or Cup run money I really think if we sell someone we will only get one replacement. Even when we sell to buy we're still too skint to buy.

Excellent point, we're at the ceiling in terms of outgoings.

And Rodallega will cost about £15million. That's you're Rodwell money practically gone.

I agree with Neiler on this one...Rodwell can be the future for this club and do what Gerrard did for the RS IMO.

But with the position the board has put us in...another team will be gaining from him talent while we'll sit there thinking "what could've been".

I thought we could've been past the Rooney-type scenario, and Moyes has said it himself that we're in a better position to fight key players. But we've become over a season a rotting corpse awaiting to be picked off by vultures

what i dont want is the situation like lescott...its all very well and good standing up to "bigger" teams and tellin them to sod off but if the player in any way wants to go then let him go, as i ve yet to see any good become of a situation like that !!!!!!

its an interestin predictament( if you step back and take off the blue tinted glasses) for both our player and manager
RODWELL - can he take his "potential" and genuinely succeed in the pressure cauldron of oldtrafford or be another "liam miller"
MOYES - does he see rodwell as a drivin force in EFC or the only way to get another 2/3 players into his squad(dependin on the final figure he is sold for)

In the championship? I would slash that estimation in half, or nobody would go near him. My point wasn't so much the players we got in, just that by selling a few for a lot we could buy a few more for less. Get rid of top earners, by lower prem/championship players for less. Thats the theory. Obviously its harder than that but thats what we have to do, in essence.
