Would you have Lukaku back?

Not really.... quite accurate.

Are you saying he's got a good touch and can hold a ball up?

Are you saying he can play touch football?

Are you saying that he isn't lazy?

Are you saying that his goals didn't mask a load of technical deficiencies and that he didn't struggle to score again st top sides?

If you said yes to any of those then you are lying.

I would not say he was lazy in anyway, you don't score 26 goals in a season by being lazy, he singlehandly won us that FA Cup quarter against Chelsea for example. He didn't score goals against the top sides mainly due to our style of play in such matches, the same problem he is having at United.

The idea that our team didn't attack because of a fear of getting caught out is also nonsense. If they didn't support him in attack he couldn't possible achieve the assist numbers he did.

His touch and hold up play also improved quite heavily during his time with us. While not his strongest point, I've seen Tosun have equally as many nightmare touches.

In Lukaku's permanent three seasons with us:
26 goals 7 assists (2nd highest for assists) (4th highest striker for assists in the league)
25 goals 7 assists (3rd highest) (4th highest striker in league for assist )
16 goals 8 assists (2nd highest) (joint 5th striker for assists)

You can't be lazy, unable to hold the ball up and have a host of other technical deficiencies and achieve those stats.

Anyone who says they would have the best striker to have play for this club in nearly 30 years back is lying. Moaning on international duty or not, he would improve this team.

Good post mate but the time you've taken to write that will be wasted on him as he will continue to shout "no!" while sticking his fingers in his ears.

Technically you could say he didnt improve us when he was here though.

Or United for that matter.

Thing is what price? His true value is around 50m but you wont get him for that so its a none starter, besides we have to be looking at top 4 and he has already shown he cant play that level

He's the type of player that will always thrive at a club like ours where he is the king pin and all the play it manufactured just to suit him, which also suits us as he will guarantee u 25 goals.

He's not capable of being that Diego Costa / aguero type forward that all world class teams need to grab games by the scruff of the neck and win them by themselves.

He is the epitome of a flat track bully.

You know what, I don't think I would have him back, I'd rather have a team than be solely reliant on him

I wanted him to leave but now with the wingers we have I’d have him back tomorrow. Niasse dcl and tosun put together wouldn’t make a good striker

How did he not improve? He scored 16 goals, then 25 goals and then 26 goals.

I didn't say he didn't improve. I said he didn't improve US.

I rate him, I am also playing devils advocate here somewhat but he was our main striker when we finished midtable two years on the bounce. Having a top goalscorer is not always the be all and end all if its at the detriment of the rest of the team.

Personally I don't like players returning regardless. It barely ever works out.

A tall, fast, strong player with incredible work rate and a good finisher would not make a good striker?

Of course that's if this mutant striker adopts all their good traits. If it ends up being a slow plodding striker with terrible touch who can't score then yeah that would be an issue...
