Would you have Lukaku back?

I would have him back but that is not the issue, would he come back? The answer to that is probably "no". He is playing for Manchester United and talking about playing in Italy. Utd. need their players to get their heads down and get on with it and he wants to play in Italy.
He wouldn't come back and if by some chance he did he would be wanting away within weeks.
That ship has well and truly sailed.

Some people just can't see past some things in football.

If we had a goalkeeper who conceded 3 goals a game due to stupid errors but made 3 world class saves every game fans would want them gone. Cos it's a false economy. It's clear that they give with one hand and take with the other. Opponents would take pot shots and know that it's only a matter of numbers.

Lukaku is the same. Gets you goals against the cannon fodder - sometimes looks unplayable. Then when the chips are down in the big games he goes missing. Can't see him for dust. Loses the ball at key phases of attack and leaves us prone to counter attacks.

"Oh he won us a quarter final against chelsea".... one of only a few times in 20 odd games vs the top 6 that he did anything. Lost us the semi final against United.

Complete phony of a player. No passion, no hunger, just all about himself.

Strange is it not that a club like ours which cannot normally attract world class players or keep them for very long if we do get them, has supporters who indulge in picking to pieces the last world class player we had?

I've always stayed the course on my opinion about Rom but feck me, he's not world class.

I'd have the on loan Rom back but he's gradually fallen in to self-preservation mode or cruise control, whatever you want to call it. He should be murdering centre backs on the weekly on the back of his physicality alone but he's gotten comfortable with being "good enough". Sad to see...ah well, he's another club's problem now.

Strange is it not that a club like ours which cannot normally attract world class players or keep them for very long if we do get them, has supporters who indulge in picking to pieces the last world class player we had? I guess if, say maybe Charlison ever develops into world class, i.e. sought after by top clubs, subsequently transferred for a huge fee, then the same goons will line up to [Poor language removed] him off for this and that fault. Someone used the word bizarre. That is what it is.

"WORLD CLASS"..... I'll help you out here.

Southall, Ball, Wilson, Dean, Rooney, Young, Harvey, Baines, Steven, Sheedy, Kanchelskis .... were world class.

Reid, bracewell, arteta, ratcliffe, Watson, gough, martyn, etc great players....

Lukaku is nowhere near that level. Absolutely nowhere. He can't control a ball, struggles to anticipate it's flight, is tactically thick, clumsy, lazy, weak for his size... oh he scored some goals for us..... yeah Kevin Phillips, Darren bent, James Beattie, Rickie Lambert scored goals....... not world class.

Just read an article saying we are on course to score more goals this season than in RM’s first season when we finished 5th. So what’s all the fuss about? Lukaku’s attitude is fing awful and that ‘hip hop’ video he made with Pogba should have been enough to end his career!

More goals from more positions is better for me than 1 big guy scoring the bulk for us. If it’s only one goal scorer surely it’s easier to prepare for and with goals coming from all over now it makes us harder to play against.

So his goals were good but no thanks, he won’t be remembered as a great like other top strikers.

Take him back? In a heart beat.

We never really replaced him and maybe now with the Brazilians and the Portuguese in charge,
plus maybe Ramsey he might just fancy it and we pay top salaries too.

Sad, bitter people. Rom was the best striker we’ve seen at this club for a long long time. Appreciate him. He stuck around for a few years but naturally moved on because we weren’t in a place to match his ambitions. No hard feelings. Would I have him back? Absolutely. He has flaws but so does nearly every player. Certainly knows where the onion bag is.

Largely agree with @JimmyGrimble here.

Only question I have is I wonder would he fit in to Marco's plans? We seem to be working towards a forward line as opposed to a couple of players feeding a target man. As good as he is, I'm not sure his link up play and movement would be what we need.

Here's lukaku in a nutshell.... United winning 2-1 in spite of him playing like ... well like lukaku really. Stunk the gaff out.

He obviously gets some stick off Chelsea fans for being a bit of a pudding so he gives it the big shusshes..... He's played at Stamford bridge 13 times without scoring..... het back in your box lad....

And United go from leading 2-1 to conceding in last minute. They moved lukaku to the right hand side and took off martial. Lukaku gives the ball away time after time.

He's on borrowed time. The bench awaits... martial and rashford look far more fluid.
