I sense he is a player who doesn't rely solely on his own talent, but elevates his game depending on the talent around him. He's surrounded by some decent talent here (apart from the coltish gallops of Davies, and a few other unpredictable good-day/bad-day performers), but I think he would elevate his game consistently surrounded by consistently good talent. So I'd say (hesitantly) yes...if a top-four takes a gamble with him, I believe he'd deliver.

It's too early too say that now but if he carries on this form for the season he would be right in the conversation with guys like Ozil, Eriksen and the rest.

A lot of our players are top 6 quality on their day but the problem is the consistency. Really only Gana brings the same level of high level of performance every week. Maybe this season that will change and players like Gylfi, Richarlison, Digne and Zouma will show up every week. Then we can talk about the top 6.

the fact that this is even a question is testament to how good Siggi is and how wrong the doubters were about him

I still doubt him.

The question is laughable. He is nowhere near the quality of the players mentioned in the thread.

Is he better than last season - absolutely, massively so.

But he is still touching the ball the least of any outfield player in most games. Every other player mentioned is involved is making 60+ passes a game, a necessity for possession orientated teams, which all of the top 6 are.

Gylfi is doing better because of what I repeatedly said the problem with him is. He can only do well in a team that has sufficient passers in it to make up for his lack of game involvement. Now instead of a Gana/Schneiderlin base with DCL on the wing, Coco at left back and Tosun up front he has Gomes, Bernard, Digne and Richarlison. We are holding the ball up front a lot better and he has now got space to operate in.

Not all (if any of those teams) play the way we do so it is a difficult question when you look at tactics.

I put yes mainly because he would not look out of place in any of those top sides. The guy has real quality and if we are saying the number 10 role then it would be harder (due to tactics) but he can drop a bit deeper like he has done in a couple of games late on (when we go a bit more attacking up top) so with that in mind, yes he could play in any team in this division.

But we have him.....so there.
