Worrying before 'it' happens

this discussion should take place after the 31st.

it looks like for now we are playing the waiting game in the transfer market the get the best possible price for the target players.

it is a risk as there are 3 games before then, but the players we have should get us through those 3 games. of course i would have liked all the targets bought before the euro's started.. that would have been ideal.

lets just see on september 1st where we are and then we can draw a line and decide where we stand then.

The above post should be recommended reading for all Evertonians.

If you can't stand the rational behind the above comments, I suggest you find the tallest structure in Liverpool (or in your particular local), climb up to the top, and jump off.

What you choose to shout as you jump is up to you but here are a few of the more popular shouts:

1) It's the Board, it's the Board !!!

2) Kenwright Out !!!

3) We're Doomed !!!

4) Dithering Davey Put Us In This Mess !!!

5) We've Got No Money !!!

6) It's All Because Of Kirkby !!!

and so on...

If your particular bridge, tower, building, etc... is higher than average, then feel free to mix and match those shouts on the way down. Add your own to spice things up a bit.

Just make sure that when you land, you land on a kopite (or a group of kopites).

what a silly argument. obviously things are less than perfect as ideally we'd have all the new players in before the players returned for pre-season & the tour, it's foolish to pretend everything's completely fine. however, it's equally foolish to assume it's the end of the world. there are a couple of days before the opening match & a couple of weeks to the close of the transfer window & anything could yet happen. we should also not write off the young players coming through, any experience they gain this season could be the making of them. the great thing about football is that it's not completely predictable - it's one of the reasons we love it. so let's just enjoy the ride & see what kind of journey lies ahead of us, rather than getting too uptight about who is or isn't on board, which we have no control over anyway. Good post Dennis...

I understand the optimists and I was in your camp up untill about a week ago, but doesnt it piss you off when you hear 'Blackburn in talks with Spurs over David Bentley?'- 2 days at most later and hes a Spurs player in one of the biggest transfers this summer. Villa sign Young and Shorey literally a day after it was in the press. Spurs sign Cesar a coupla days after it was in the press etc etc etc We have been linked with these players for WEEKS possibly MONTHS and [Poor language removed] all happens. If the money is there then there must be something wrong behind the scenes. There really is no other explanation for it. 19 other premiership clubs even bloody Newcastle wrap up there wanted signings quick and efficiently. We have 3 days till the prem starts and we have 10 fit senior players and a bunch of un tested kids on the bench.

Dont get me wrong if every premiership club was slow to make signings after interest is declared then I wouldnt be too bothered. But its a FACT that we're the only ones who faff about until its to late. I dont give a [Poor language removed] give Sporting there sodding 20m for Moutinho and use the other 15m (that must be AT LEAST surely?) to buy other wanted players. NOW! If we dont have this money then someones been lining there pockets.

It really is hard to be optimistic right now. :(

I think there's a line between being optimistic and throwing in the towel.

I'm one of the most optimistic posters on the forum and yet I can see that things aren't going swimmingly right now.

But as several have wisely pointed out, I will "throw in the towel" when the window shuts and we haven't signed anyone.

Until that happens, it makes good common sense to take a laid back view towards what's happening right now and not worry about something that we can't control anyway.

I'm not one from the doom and gloom brigade, but the current situation has me worried also. Not saying I don't have any faith in the season, but the situation a couple of days before the start of the EPL is far from ideal. We're down on numbers compared to last year and have injuries to some key members of our squad at the moment.

Can understand that there are many Evertonians frustrated at the lack of transfermovement at Everton. Still believe however, that we eventually bring in the players that we need. Rather wait for the calibre of Love/Moutinho/Cana/Mbia etc...etc...than just go out and buy for the sake of pleasing your fanbase.

Just hope I'm right at the end of the transferwindow, as we do need new players to build on last season's success.

I completely understand why people are concerned- the lack of transfer activity is unsettling and the fact we have a few injuries adds to this.

Now Im one of those people who waits until the event takes place before I start whinging and moaning about it. Sure we havent broke the bank (yet) like some have wanted , we have lost a couple of players but that doesnt definitely mean we are in for a rough season.

We have some decent youth team players coming through and our big names are back from injury. Although teh depth isnt what it could be.

I have a funny feeling that we will dink Blackburn at the weekend and put in a hell of a performance. Times like these can actually work in your favour and galvanise the side to perform together.

So to all the uber negative on this board with calls of- 'We are a joke' 'Its a disgrace' 'We are a shambles' etc etc. I say this- hold on until Saturday when you may or may not have something real and solid to moan about.

We have in my opinion one of the best back 5 in the league, we have a player that can score against any team in the league, we have a gifted midfielder that on his day is one of the best in the business and we have one of the best goal scoring midfielders in Europe to come back.

Blackburn- well they've got Fowler and Robinson in  Everton 3 Blackburn 0.
Agree with almost everything you've said. I'm also not worrying yet and think that we can definitely win this weekend.

But by the end of the transfer window we could have already lost games we should of won and th players could have lost confidence and self belief.

Ahhh who am i kidding. Im a doom merchant and I love it!!!! :P

Behave yourself.

Its just a difference of opinions, you find that on a forum.

If anything, its been a "witch hunt" against me, even Ghost said I am on my own

You do come out with some [Poor language removed].*

*This does not represent a witch hunt, merely sound judgement.

Swore I was not even looking at the net until Sep 1st and would get my transfer news from Ceefax. Got sucked in and read this thread with interest. I learned:

1) Everything is either under control at EFC or completely messed up beyond redemption depending on your point of view.
2) We will beat Blackburn on Saturday irrespective of your view on point 1
3) We definitely need to sign 6 or 8 good players by Aug 31st or we are screwed no matter what your view now.
4) When people have different points of view about their club things get a little personal especially on forums as in the pub you get drunk and agree to move on. You definitely don't remember what was said last year!
5) Channel 4 might pay good money for a Big Brother house full of Evertonians as there would be carnage for the whole month of August provided daily transfer updates were sent in.
6) I really wish I could fast forward to Sept 1st to see if it's Ghost and the pessimists who are saying they got it wrong. Hope so but don't think so.

Sounds like a mersey beat band.

There sems to be a hidden agenda on here to not lose faith with other posters and keep being positive no matter what happens.
I know the idea of a forum is to have an opinion but whichever way you dress it up we are in a mess.
I suppose we will see what the money situation is really like come september the 1st but looking what we have available at the moment and knowing nobody is saying anything about moysies contract however positive you want to feel its not looking good
