Worrying before 'it' happens

Yes but they are senior players with experience mate.

So is Yakubu, Jagielka and Vaughan (his ban hasnt been confirmed yet has it?)

So lets see, a starting line up containing Jags, Yak and Vaughan or Hibbert, Johnson and McFadden?

Arteta will be fit too, not to mention the players Blackburn losing Bentley...

Our starting line up this year is no worse than last year against Blackburn, so to use that as your main argument for a "disastrous pre-season" is a non starter.

Disagree.

I have total faith in Moyes. He knows what he's doing. Its obvious he has at least £20million (McFadden & Johnson money and a bit more), the same amount, if not more than he has had to spend any other pre-season.

If he wanted to, he could have brought in a few bodies to boost numbers but he obviously is confident he will have quality by the end of the transfer window.

Fans want us to bring in quality to bridge the gap between us and 4th, the man is trying his best to do that. Moutinho will, Sidwell wont.

We are no worse off than we were last year. Cahill, Vaughan nearly back to full fitness, Arteta is... with a few youngsters gaining a good pre-season under their belt.

The fans who have called Everton a joke and a disgrace should have a serious look at themselves.

We are down on AJ, McFadden, Cahill, Carsley, Anichebe, Vaughan and Pienaar, all of whom are missing the start of the season for Everton. AJ, Carsley and McFadden are gone, Pienaar is out for anything up to 8 weeks, Vaughan and Cahill are injured more than not. Big Vic is away for another while yet.

So please don't say we are no worse off than this time last year, because we most certainly are.

If the window shuts an we'v only signed say M'bia an love(as if) thats still not nearly good enough. Will you be happy?

I don't think its about that Sharpy. Its about people like me moaning at the situation, and people who have personal grudges against me posting to spite.

I can only imagine Tony Marsh at this point is going balistic at the situation, and for once he would be justified.

This summer has not been Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, and no matter which way you slice it, its clearly not been good enough.

If we wanted Moutinho we would've got him by now I think. But no, we're pottering about with low end bids knowing full well Sporting want a certain amount for him.

Wanger Love is on its arse at the moment.

We couldnt even get Alan Smith.

M'bia is up in the air because he doesnt want to hand a transfer request in.

Who else we got lined up? Unless we're keeping it very, very quiet there's nothing on the horizon apart from the 1st game of the season with a depleted squad.

We need for the 1st team --

Another striker
A back up goal keeper
A defensive midfielder
A versitile midfielder

So unless we're gonna do one of the quickest tranfers of 4-5 qulaity players in the history of the premier league in the next 3 weeks, then I'll be happy and surprised.

If not its mediocrity here we come

Think your on your own there pal.

Its not blackburn am worried about as we have a good enough team to beat them. Its when injuries and suspensions start to bite is when we have problems as we have nothing to come in and replace the 1st 11

Oh yeah, there's that too.

But don't worry mate, its all ok, apparently.

I'll bookmark this thread and bump it at a later date.

Well whatever mate, but you can't tell 95% of the Evertonians posting on forums that they are wrong, and that its all ok, because it isn't. We are down 5 players from the end of the season, we have lost 1 to injury, 1 to possible suspension and 1 to the Olympics.

We are struggling to find 7 players to go on the bench. It isn't looking good, and you saying that its nothing to worry about and I'm going to prove you all wrong is just making you look foolish.

Yes we may well beat Blackburn, we may win the next game. But do you honestly truly believe we are going to strengthen this squad by the end of the month? Because its not just about beating Blackburn, its all the other games we have to play to try and maintain our standing in the Premier League, and perhaps break the top 4.

They have taken 10 weeks to sign nobody, I can't see them making 5 or 6 new signings in the next 3 weeks. None that is going to improve the squad anyway.

Of course I would love to be proven wrong, but you can't blame people for feeling down and depressed about the direction their club is moving in. Its insulting their intelligence.

We had no depth to the squad last season, that's why the wheels came off in the last ten games - we couldn't hack it in 4 competitions with what we had in reserve. Since then we've lost three first team players. 'It' is happening.

If anyone is making a show of themselves it's those with their head stuck in the sand thinking all is rosy in the garden because we have a couple of weeks left to get ourselves up to last season's squad strength.

this discussion should take place after the 31st.

it looks like for now we are playing the waiting game in the transfer market the get the best possible price for the target players.

it is a risk as there are 3 games before then, but the players we have should get us through those 3 games. of course i would have liked all the targets bought before the euro's started.. that would have been ideal.

lets just see on september 1st where we are and then we can draw a line and decide where we stand then.

No African nations this year either....

I am not in the business of slating our manager before the season or transfer window has shut. But the rest of you, feel free.
