Can this thread be nuked off of the forum. It's an embarrassing title. I can't believe people still feel the need to constantly belittle women's sports. We get it they aren't as good as men. It's still fantastic entertainment and wonderful skill.

Nooooo...Artetas_dumbest_fan should have to live with this thread everytime he is called up from the cellar to warm dinner cooked by his mom.

The US Women are not running there dispute with FIFA they are running it with USSoccer. They make less money from the federation than the US Men's team despite regularly bringing in more revenue to the federation. With the exception of World Cup years (when the men qualify), the women should make more and they don't.

Then they have to walk out and not before the She Believes Cup, the Women's gold cup or some non-entity. They have to boycott the World Cup. It shouldn't have to come to this but that's what its going to take. FYI: don't think a boycott would ever happen, at least 4-5 starters have cushy sponsorship deals and they pay the bills. All it would take is say 2-3 of them to cross (US soccer knows this) and the whole boycott is sunk.

Yeah they talked boycott before this World Cup but it never got close and it never will get close because as you said it would be harmful to a lot of the major players in the squad. USSoccer is a real set of scumbags so them doing the right thing isn't something I'm expecting.

if the whole squad walks it would work. If 1-3 starters cross, all the players on the outer fringes would gladly fill in and could field a credible team

I could see the big ones, Morgan, Rapinoe, Ertz and whoever else it is that really matters working it out with their sponsors to keep enough of them on board that it could maybe work. It'll be tough. Honestly doing it before the Olympics would at least start to send a message and would maybe allow them to work it out in time for 2023. If they wait until after it will definitely not have enough impact to work.

They'll be enought WARGARBBL DOESNT LOVE MURICA blowback that sponsors will run screaming from. Don't think that's happening. I don't think Morgan would ever participate in a boycott. While yes, I think she's a very good striker (though not one of their top 5 players), she's better at selling corn flakes than the rest of the team combined and has a post-soccer TV future ahead of her. If Morgan doesn't go along w/ it the boycott will go down in flames, because the TV networks will still have their poster girl.

I don't know enough about their thinking to know exactly where each member would fall. But Morgan has to participate. She's not only one of the biggest names but unlike Rapinoe she hasn't made any enemies either. If she's out it is over before it starts.

USA men's team releases statement in support of the women's team, calling out the inaccurate pay structure that has been publicized. Good on them!

The members of the United States National Soccer Team Players Association once again stand with the members of the world champion Women's National Team in their pursuit of fair compensation for their work as professional soccer players. The USMNT players were not impressed with US Soccer Federation president Carlos Cordeiro's letter made public on Monday. The Federation downplays contributions to the sport when it suits them. This is more of the same from a Federation that is constantly in disputes and litigation and focuses on increasing revenue and profits without any idea how to use that money to grow the sport. One way to increase profit unfairly is to refuse to pay national team players a fair share of the revenue they generate.

The Cordeiro letter includes the claim that the USWNT lost $27 million over the past 11 years, but admits that is based on false accounting because the Federation “traditionally” does not count any of the sponsorship, television, or marketing money the Federation generates from USWNT and USMNT players and their games. What US sports team makes money if they don't count television, sponsorship, and marketing revenue?

The women's national team players deserve equal pay and are right to pursue a legal remedy from the courts or Congress. The Federation correctly points to the different payment systems with USWNT players on contracts, but we do not believe that justifies discrediting the work they do or the real value of their profound impact on the American sports landscape. The only solution Mr. Cordeiro proposes is for fans to buy more tickets and watch more games on television. He conceals the fact that the money will not go to USWNT players when sponsors pay the Federation to support the USWNT, fans buy tickets to USWNT games at ever-increasing ticket prices, and television companies pay more when more fans watch USWNT games. That is neither fair nor equitable.

We are also surprised Mr. Cordeiro is writing about labor issues since he has yet to contact the USNSTPA since taking office. As you may know, our CBA expired at the end of 2018 and we are currently waiting on a response from US Soccer to our proposal that would pay the men a fair share of all of the revenue they generate and would provide equal pay to the USMNT and USWNT players.
