Not sure its something you "get over".

The fear of relegation stops us winning the title?

My head hurts.

Im gonna dip out.

Yes I know it is tenuous at best, but it can make (some) sense if you think it's like playing with a handbrake on, the more you go for it the more chance of being beaten. The awful record against them lot comes from fear.

Anyone that thinks we would bounce straight back only needs to have a look at what has happened to Leeds, notts forest, Sheffield Wednesday etc. never mind what has happened to Coventry who were on a par with us for the longest run in the top division. Not as easy as bouncing straight back up. The drop to the championship is massive and once the financial rot sets in its hard to shift.

Yet Newcastle are doing it for the second time.
We'd be the biggest club in The Championship and could afford the best manager and best players. We'd come back up. Leeds had massive financial problems, Forest and Coventry were long punching above their weight.

Hello?

Whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis?

I remember Cov being promoted sometime in the mid 60s.

We had already returned from our brief second sojourn out the top flight in 1954.

Even the RS would have had a longer run in the top flight than Cov before they went down :pint2:

But you are spot on about it not being easy to bounce back after being relegated.
