Transfer Rumour Wilmar Barrios

All I know is Spurs have been strongly linked too which you'd guess is a good sign.

Reminds me a bit of Besic though from that footage

I think characteristic difference should not be an excuse not to compare like for like. One run faster the other does not mean thier primary job differs. It’s exactly the same just the choice and the preference to execute it differs.

They are after all a defensive midfielder at the end of the day they will be judge on breaking up play, tackling, ball retrieval, ball recycle, bread and butter stuff.

.....it really is a very different position we’re talking about. I remember Fellini being used as the backfour Shield and he found it very difficult to discipline himself to stay in a specific area. I heard Cattermole saying the same at Sunderland. Statistics are fine, but Gana chases play and puts fires out around the pitch. They might both be defensive midfielders, I just think Barrios is a different type.

I agree with you about Fellini's lack of discipline. I know it's sacrilegious, but I've always thought you could cut 30 minutes out of La Dolce Vita and it would be a better movie.

He definitely is. They aren’t that similar. Gana is not a back four shield. Never has been, he’s a ball winner, and a very good one. Barrios will sit in front of the defense. He’s a smaller William Carvalho.

I think we need both, our problem right now is we have full backs bombing on, but nobody in midfield drops back into defence to cover like Barry did.

Sounds like this is what barrios does and that's what we need to replace schneiderlin who has now become a liability. But we also need a gueye in other games, where we need to keep winning the ball back. They'd hardly ever pay together for me, only in the rally big matches where we'd need to keep the ball.

I'm still unsure as to whether the transfers are dependant on eachother either, we've been linked with barrios since the summer, well before we had any interest in gueye.

A midfield five of gueye, gomes, barrios, Davies and a powerhouse like a cheaper doucoure would give us everything we need, with schneiderlin, Mccarthy and besic shipped off.

That's how I hope it looks after next Jan.
Exactly. He plays very similar to how Schneiderlin plays. He and Gana could even play together in the right tactic.

Sign him up. Judging from the youtube video he likes a tackle not scared to run at players or pass the ball forwards and not sideways. And a tenner a game on him first yellow = beer paid for

He can't be that slow, can he?
