You cant possibly say Gmblammo is our best midfielder, at this point we arent even sure if he will play again.

I'm not saying he's our best midfielder. However if he recovers from his injury (and the same goes for Gomes) I'd imagine he will be first choice.

The hope will be, that there will be lots of work being done behind the scenes to strength him so he's ready t hit the ground running.

A lot of people want a big, physical player who can carry the ball and pass it forwards. We do have a player who can do that, we have just been unfortunate he's been injured.

But we don’t know if they’ll survive a full season? What if we sign a new midfielder and he’s out for the season like what happened with JPG? We can only work on what we’ve got and what we know not what might happen. Hence I think we’ll be smart with signings this summer.
Let’s leave it to Ancelotti. But I’m sure it’s better to have 3 quality midfielders. Than 1 and 1 question mark. And 4 [Poor language removed] ones.

Injuries happen and that’s why you need quality over quantity.

Is he better than Davies, Delph and Schneiderlin? Yes, yes he is. We can say that after only 135 mins of football.

Ive got big hopes for Gmblammo, but at this point he is a total unknown and it would be VERY foolish to assume him and Gomes will hit the ground running for 50+ games next season, so IMO we need another quality midfielder, but thats only if we can shift Snides, Iceland, Besic, Connolly, Beni and Dowell, of course the last few names are less important than the first 2.

He’s looks very good from the bits I watched him playing for Mainz. But we still need another quality midfielder. Like you’ve just said Davies, Delph and Schneiderlin aren’t good enough.

So if they ain’t good enough to start they shouldn’t be back up options either.

Yes all of that is true. We do need another player in. As you say though, we need to move at least 1 of our midfielders on. Besic must be out of contract soon.

All players signed should be good enough for the starting XI but you can still call them starters/reserves as you can’t field everyone in the squad at once. If we sign a starter every position we need this summer we’d go bankrupt is the point I’m making.

I suspect we’ll see a couple of players at around the £35m-£40m mark. Brands said we aren’t in the market for £60m plus players. Maybe some left field signings on frees or young players from abroad.....

Well we obviously won’t be doing that. But we need to do it in the most important positions, which imo are CB & CM. And RW.

Richarlison, Kean And DCL, going for 2 positions. New CB, holgate & Mina. The same New midfielder ( first choice imo) Gomes & gbamin. Maybe a younger midfielder in as 4th choice

Sidebe and maybe a new RB, depending on Kenny. And new first choice right sided forward.
That’s is what I’m hoping for.

How can you in the same thread say JPG looks very good but then say he’s not first choice midfield?

From a small sample size when he was in Germany, prem is even a different kettle of fish to Germany.

He could come in and be amazing and him and Gomes could be a brilliant pairing. My point is none of us know how it’s going to go next season. Abs that’s why we need another quality midfield in the mix. Who on paper would be seen as our best midfielder imo.

I could be totally wrong about the quality of midfielder we target, but I’m 100% certain we will be buying one.

I think it’s unfair to suggest we need to buy a new starting midfielder before we’ve properly seen one we’ve already got. We definitely need a midfielder but I don’t think we need to spend the money we’d have to on a starter.

Think we only have the following who are over 23 and their contracts expiring in the summer;

BAINES
MARTINA
STEKLENBERG
SIDIBE
NIASSE
TARASHAJ
GARBUTT

Out of that lot there are probably; Baines, Sidibe and Niasse we need direct replacements for within the squad. And then on top of that I would say we need CM, RW and CB
Bolasie is ooc
