I agree about CB & CM and have just posted about this. But there’s no way Walcott starts down the right next season. Ancelotti will definitely want a signing for that position
I probably agree with this. I know it's not popular but I really like Sidibe. I think he's one of the best fullbacks in the league. Outside of Arnold I haven't really seen anyone I would swap him for. I know he's 27, but I think he's top draw and given his price we'd be mad not to keep him. If we do, it makes sense to sell Kenny for what we can get and keep Coleman in the background.

The other two positions are important. However we do currently have 6 central midfield players. I do think we would need to move players on to be able to bring one in. At present we haven't seen any of Gbamin and while it's a somewhat erstwhile cliche he is a bit of a "new signing". I also don't think we will be looking to move lots of players out at once. In truth I'm probably coming round to the idea maybe Davies has to be moved on? He is probably the lowest paid in terms of wages though. My hope is, Ancelotti can get Schneiderlin back close to his early Koeman form.

As for right wing this is certainly a priority. Unger is a possibility. It would be really good if we can get someone in that position.

I would add though, depending on what happens with Keane we need another centre back. Everything seems to suggest Gibson will be out on loan to a European side next season (which makes a lot of sense) so even a loan at centre back would be good.

As we say though, that is 2 or 3 signings (one of them being a back up). So it would be good to get quality in certain positions.
I think there's probably a comment in whats expected from full backs in the modern game. He's no world beater, but in truth the league is very ordinary. If we had a team of Sidibe's we'd be comfortably top 6 and probably top 4. At the price we have agreed again it's a no brainer for me. I look at that Wan Bissaka at United and wonder quite how he is that expensive. I also worry someone is going to do an absolute bundle on Max Aarons from Norwich. To me he's ok, and there's no doubt he could improve (he's fantastic given his age) but the prices being quotes are enormous.

Problem with Sidibe is his defensive positioning. Aside from that i do really like him.

If hes exposed though it really means he has an awful game though hes a yoyo in that sense.

A centre back may well come in but i dont see it as being as big of a priority as a centre mid or right midfielder.

Even with Gomes + Gbamin back coming off awful injuries theyre hardly a top 4 duo. Also nothing behind them.

Davies is a local player and cheap...hes worth keeping in the squad as a backup. Better to shift out delph, sigurdsson and schneiderlin.

Walcott will have 1 year left in the summer...id sell though i wonder if he'll be kept as backup.

Him in the team really screws us up in the last third

Especially in injury time away To Watford

I think it’s unfair to suggest we need to buy a new starting midfielder before we’ve properly seen one we’ve already got. We definitely need a midfielder but I don’t think we need to spend the money we’d have to on a starter.
Think maybe we do need a new first choice CM in the summer because none of us expected Gbamin to be injured for such a long period of time so early in his career for us. Do we want to place so much reliance on his recovery and ability to STAY fit when next season is looking so important for us as a club. We dont want to rely on the likes of Davies in the event of an injury to him for games like the derby or Europe (possibly). We should buy a new first choice CM and use Gbamin as the backup.

But what’s to stop us signing a new starter and then he comes in and tears a quad or whatever and is out for ages? It’s all hypothetical. We wouldn’t rely on Davies because we’d have a new improvement as third choice.

Gbamin’s confidence will hardly be up if we basically say “yeh, sorry lad you were brought in as a starter but you’ve been injured for ages so now you’re a bench player”.

I do take your point but we need to be a bit more ruthless with regard to the players, sentimentality hasn't really worked for us and in some respects has contributed to the bloated squad that we see today. It's not like Gbamin is on minimum wage so the money would help to heal any hurt feelings he may or may not have......just ask Oumar.

Ruthless with an injured player we’ve not had the chance to see yet? lol I can’t support this opinion whatsoever.

Don't think we need to spend big.

Gomes/gbamin will get a full pre season
The other midfielders we have are decent back up as long as both of the above arent out. It's when our backups play together that our midfield disintegrates.
Need a right winger
Need a RB. Undecided if that should be sidibe.
CB would be nice but I don't think Keane is going anywhere
I think DCL/Kean/Richarlison will be formidable next year with a creative addition on the right. We don't have funds for a top striker.

Probably a budget of 70-80 m plus whatever we can raise from sales
Carlo was obviously promised money to spend or he would not have signed
It’s spending it right and getting rid of the dross that will be the problem.
A RB. RW and a CM is what we need as guaranteed starters.
A goal scoring LW would be nice if funds allow
