Damn your facts!! There is no place for that sort of thing on this forum! I didn't think it through, did I?

lol

No....you did not.

Nor has anyone else whom says they “hope” we don’t qualify for Europe next season :)

Because the logic of that argument is that they sit cheering the other team on if we make the Cup Final :pint2:

Certainly better to have 3 simple comps of pure knock-out football, than all this garbage mini-league crap. Especially with teams dropping from one to the other.
20 odd years ago I'd watch as much football as i could, now its just Everton and the odd PL game not involving us. CL and europa are a bit tedious these days in general.

Hope not, Europa League is a complete waste of time !

No-one really likes the competition and it's pretty much accepted that no-one is even bothered until the champions league teams drop down or you get to the quarter finals, but what are we supposed to do? Should we just finish a maximum of 8th every season and only get to the semi-finals of the cups, just to avoid qualification? It's highly unlikely we'll be breaking into the top 4 anytime soon, so Europa league will have to do for our European ventures.

Haven't got a problem with the Europa league so long as we can avoid joining from the earliest qualifying round going and actually build a squad capable of not getting embarrassed by European heavyweights like Atalanta.

We were considering relegation 2 weeks ago and now folks are turning up their nose to entering EL
Do you want to finish 8th each season? Because that's going to happen since we're not finishing in a CL spot anytime soon.

Build up a good squad, like the one that went to Cyprus and done the job and you'll have zero issues.

European football be it EL or CL, breeds experience, confidence, money, sponsors, fans and helps bringing more renown players.

Without European football, forget about competing with the top 6. You can't cut corners. Take a bite and make the most of it.

Get yer heads examined.

I have to disagree.

Krasnodar. Dynamo Kiev. Brann. BATE Borisov.

Not exactly Bayern Munich are they? and we're coming back from these games knackered.

AlsI I'd rather have us play on Saturdays at 3pm.

However, from memory, some of them were very entertaining home games.

The Europa games are reasonably priced and as a result are packed full of kids - our future fan base.

European evening games, just like evening FA Cup games, just have that magic about them.

I would say the Top 1 is getting further and further away.

There is no “top 4” anymore, outside of interchangeable league positions below the top spot.

United and Chelsea are not going to close on them in the foreseeable, never mind the rest of us.

The way things are going City will do to the EPL what PSG have done to Ligue 1.
I don’t think so.

Man Utd can match whatever City spend, so can Chelsea.

Then you’ve got the likes of: Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and ourselves who can easily go out and spend £100m+

The French league doesn’t have anywhere near the money and just one mega rich club.

Top Four might just be out of touch for us this season but if we keep Big Sam and get in half a dozen truly world class players over the summer we should be nailed on next season.

I'd actually prefer us to miss out on Europe altogether this year so we have a clear run at CL qualification next season

I'd be gutted if we don't make the top four this year. I agree with you that if we can get Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo in the summer then we can really push on.

Get back to RAWK

TBH, I think any mini-league is tedious. Would be OK if it were 3 teams & only the winner goes through, but all this top 2 & even best of the 3rd place (like in the World Cup) is just boring. It's just pandering to clubs/countries with too much money to be left out.

I think we will finish 8th behind Burnley in 7th who look like they are having one of those seasons we had under Moyes when we finished 4th (final position never to be repeated due to the PL landscape change).
And imo, it will confirm what we already know- this season has been an utter travesty.

And I think the Europa gets a bit of a raw deal because of the group stages - cos yes, you can end up with lots of groups that just don't grasp the imagination. But once you get to the last 16 stage, I think it's a great competition.
In fact, I've enjoyed the knockout stages of the Europa more than the CL a couple times in recent history. I know last seaosn wasn't so good for a neutral fan, but that's just how it worked out, with hardly any clubs from the big leagues getting beyond quarter final stage. But normally it's far better.
And this season could be fantastic, and I'm not just saying that cos my boys are in it :p But with Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Dortmund, Lazio, Zenit, Leipzig, Lyon... there's some good teams there, hopefully they take it seriously!
