Why Roberto Martinez's Style of Play Will Make Everton an EPL Threat

Quite right mate, however what I've seen has been encouraging for the most part, but alas frustrating in the final third. I'm confident it'll work out but we'll just have to see.

We lack someone who can stick the ball in the net........ Jermaine Defoe would be perfect for us I reckon.... Others don't thnk so.... It's all opinions...that's what makes it fun.

i think with martinez and the transition to his style of play will mean this may be a slow year or a 'building year' if you want. the upside is that i think we'll be able to advance further than we did with moyes. i know it's not like 6th/7th were the highest we reached under moyes, but i think we'd probably hit our limit as far as we could go with that cautionary style of play (or cautionary moyes management).

with marty i think we'll be much more threatening in the cups and when we're in form we'll be scintilating. i hope i don't get canned for this but i can easily seeing it being a case of 12th one year, 5th the next, 9th the one after. as long as we're putting good cup runs (think we could win one this year tbh) and playing attractive footy, think we'll be happy for the ride. if he stays as long as moyes did then who knows what he'll achieve.

with our 3 loan signings this year it shows the challenges of managing on a budget. great loan signings but some years those types might not be on the market (lukaku only came up last min) and have to get 3 lower quality perm signings in instead.

Top four is almost certainly out of the question this year, and while Europe would be an impressive accomplishment, it's not an essential target immediately. If Martinez perseveres with this approach and continues to add a few stylistic fits, his methods should soon see Everton return to the top seven. A bit of savvy recruitment and he may just fulfill his promise to Kenwright"http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...er&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=everton.

There's lots of different ways to go about winning football matches, different styles and different stats to support or discount your way of playing or it's affectiveness but at the end of the day 90% of the time it comes down to 1 thing.....

The quality of personel on the pitch!

Statistics are great, you can show them to be positive or negative, dependant on how you feel.

Unfortunately the only way to win a game is to score more than the opposition - this is something we are failing to do, have failed to do in the past and unless (Lukaku aside) we invest in a proven striker will struggle to do in the future.

For all our possession, shots on target etc etc at the end of the day scoring more goals wins games and it is no fluke that all the teams that have invested heavily in a striker score goals and win games - i can see a pattern here!!!!!!!!!!

Still early days, and whilst we're obviously all excited by the transfer deadline dealings, we haven't had a great start in terms of results. You kinda get the impression that if we can turn Chelsea over then it could act as a catalyst. Will certainly be an interesting game.

An interesting read, but stats are from 3 games like. Still 35 to go, I may start evaluting the season slightly earlier than than but not after 3 games

I hope over time we find a way to change things and throw something different at sides when we're struggling to get at them. All good sides can come at you a few different ways.
