Why does everyone want Heitinga to go?

pretty sure martinez won't be having him here next season if he has the choice. sadly nobody wants johnny, would be very good to get him off our books; not that i hate him, just his attitude to not playing RB stinks. Think moyes made me hate him more because he kept playing him when he didn't deserve it, and as his performances were so bad and costing us points, he wasn't a very loveable figure for me last season.

why dithering dave left him on until villa had no chance of losing that game i will never know - one of the worst bits of everton managing i've seen, that was

Falls over when under pressure from strikers in the hope a foul will be given to save his embarrassment. Defends with no heart.

The complete opposite of a certain defensive beast called Phil Jagielka.

I don't care if he can pass a ball a little better, number one job of a central defender is to stop the opposition scoring at all costs.

Exactly, making a hoof 3% more accurate from the back means little to me if you play like a [Poor language removed] 95% of the time.

He seems to have his heart set on a move to Ajax, his boyhood team. Not too sure if they want him though, especially after last season.

Agree, plus I seem to remember Jags coming straight back in after injury despite JH doing well - suspect he wasn't one of soft lads yes men - not surprised he started looking elsewhere.

Deffo wouldn't mind him getting a shot under RM.

Yeah, either that or Jagielka's one of the best centre backs in England and Heitinga's gash.

I reckon not being first choice is the factor that determines if JH cares or not, if he's only playing intermittently then he just seems to be half arsed when given a proper run of games he gets his head out of his arse and play properly.

In short...Sell him we need to cash in.

Not quite the ringing endorsement it first appears, like saying the finest Dacia car of all Dacia cars.

Jags is effective but has his limitations he's more stopper than creator the complete reverse of JH - it's a choice of whether you sit back with the last ditch all hands to the pump stuff or play the game in the opposition half which we hope is the Martinez gameplan.

The latter makes the OP worth considering.

It's a shame, I really liked Jonny, was rightfully voted player of the season for 11-12. But there was no excuse for how bad he was last season. So we've just signed Alcaraz, Jonny is on big wages, I say cash in on him and put money toward new signings.

This.

I like Johnny too but might be the right time and get as much as we could for him. As well as he did a few years back, I'm afraid to say that he'd be like Yobo after he's gone (meaning he really wouldn't be missed.)

Defenders are there to stop, though, not create.

And Heitinga doesn't 'create' anyway.

He went from player of the season to awful last season; the main reason, the club tried to sell him behind his back. Loyalty goes 2 ways, from having his best season in our shirt to being crapped on from a great height probably had something to do with his attitude.

I think he may get a look in next year, Jags has already made a comment about 3 at the back and the need for the Alcarez signing to provide more cover. I like Johnny and hope he stays

Untrue, he wanted to move.
