Someone earlier mentioned that they have 1 world class player and us 2. This is where we kid ourselves a little bit I think.
Baines is one of the best in the world in his position but then there's only so much he can do from left back. Fellaini is very good, but not world class in my opinion.
Suarez challenges the Philpott parents for the title of the most vile human being in the World but he's one of the very best strikers there is. To score the amount of goals he has in a largely ****e team is incredible. Gerrard may be tailing off now but he too was genuine world class. Its a cliche but Those 2 win games on their own, and more often than not they turn up for the big games too
No, but their teams have been far, far better than ours for vast majority of Moyes's tenure
my point you have never seen a good red s..hite team
Not really. Gap was much bigger in the from 71-84 and 88-01.
We've finished above them twice during moyes time and none at all during the above spans. Plus we were within one position of them twice more which didn't often happen during their glory years.
This is as close as the gap has ever been, apart from during the kendall good times, since the 60s. His record can't be excused by the way the likes of bingham and lee, who were mediocre managers of mediocre teams got blown away by shankly.
We've won 6 times there in the last 42 years: 1999, 1995, 1987, 1986, 1984, 1970 (thanks to whoever gave that stat in another thread). So I don't see how Moyes could possibly be responsible; it's something that's been an issue for us for over 40 years for us now.
Didn't they win the CL the first time we finished above them, then last year it WAS Moyes fault for fielding a weakened team - that's the only game I think he's truly been to blame for. Other than that they've still won with a better team, and there's been a few draws too.
So you are saying that before Moyes we averaged a win there every 5 years or so. But he hasn't managed it in 11 years and you don't think there is a connection?

There's nothing positive about 6 points out of 30 away at your local rivals. If we were content with that i'd be very concerned.
Yeah if you ignore the 14 year gap from 70-84 when they were the best team in europe and we were awful. we've been consistently winning there reguarly up until we appointed moyes.

You can't just ignore 14 years to suit your argument ffs.
During that period we finished top half of the table more than we didn't, and finished 4th twice and 3rd once. Not 'awful'.

He didn't need to, the averages are the same from 1970-Moyes, approx. a win every 5 years.
As for your comment on averages, aren't you the guy who tried to use Chaos Theory about the FA Cup Semi Final draw?
You started this by using figures going from 1970 when the first anfield derby was 1894. And you're criticising me for ignoring 14 years?
