Why can't we beat the ****e at Anfield?

No but seriously people go on about moyes record at stamford bridge, old trafford and the emirates. But honestly those places are fortresses, it's really hard to win there. I mean during moyes time in charge each one of those stadiums housed the best team in europe. I'm mostly happy with a draw from there and I don't think that record is too bad given we tend to win our fair share of home games against them. And indeed knocked chelsea out of the cup at stamford bridge.

Anfield isn't the same, though. It's a very winnable game.

Certainly was over the last 2 or 3 seasons. Thought when Beckford put us ahead a couple of seasons ago that was it because we had dominated the game. Last season's 'attempt' doesn't count because we had no chance going there with a weakened team.

You have to remember though that this has being going on for decades. I still can't get over how we lost the '86 Cup final to them then just when you thought we had our revenge in '89...

We do have a mental issue and it is about time we overcame it.

To answer the original thread starter, the ****e are our bogey team. Doesn't matter how good we are or how bad they are, we just don't get results against them. I with that weren't the case but sadly, it is. Hopefully we can turn that around at some point but I'm not hopeful.

Sort of like how we're City's bogey team. Everybody has them, unfortunately ours also happen to be our derby rivals.

Because that lot, although they won't admit it, sees us coming in as a big, big, big game. Then they do what teams are supposed to do for big games - rise to the occasion. They will play out of their minds in that game. Question is: Will we do so as well? If we do, we will win, as we are the better squad. However, sadly, history points to them stepping up, and us, well, not.

exactly...they come out like its an fa cup final, flying in for every ball & ruthless, not to mention dirty.

Exactly sir. And that's what makes it even worse is that it is Liverpool.

I'd be ok if it was Spurs, or even someone like Fulham. But Liverpool??? That just makes it tough to even look forward to playing them.
