Lineker. Absolutely hands down. As someone already stated, absolutely deadly. We had him for his best season too.
Agree but he also had a team of winners to play with.I still can't believe how we didnt get what we deserved that season. If we had, that team, could have been remembered as our best. The speed of the attacking forays were incredible finished a lot by Lineker. They destroyed lot of teams before half time.Such a shame the season ended in complete heartbreak.

Has to be someone whose goals got us the league as a starting point. Sharp, Royle or Vernon, I plumbed for Vernon as he was a deadly finisher. Saying that Sharpy a very very close second.

Vernon before my time, Sharp I only saw play at Wembley and on telly, but Joe was my old mans fave so when he joined Bristol City and scored 4 on his debut, I was hooked.

Not exactly a scientific analysis, but its the internet, so arsed.

Indeed! Based on the title “greatest striker of the post war era”, Lukaku probably doesn’t even make the top five!
I think Rom is getting some love because he's the best we've had in around 25 years and there's a lot of folks on here of that age. Some of us oldies are good enough for the 80's but not too many of us left that remember the 70's/60's.

As an all round centre forward I would go for Graeme Sharp, although he wasn't always the best when he went one on one with a keeper. As a goalscorer, it would be Gary Lineker everytime. He certainly developed into a world class striker while he was here.

Graeme Sharp scored 24 goals in 85/86 while partnering Lineker which dropped to 12 goals in 86/87 without him so to say Lineker's goals were at the expense of other strikers isn't really true.

Sharp and Lineker were a deadly front two (64 goals between them in 85/86) and were a genuinely feared partnership that I wish had stayed together as they were only going to get better and better.

True, but that is really also the point I am making. In 86/87 we had many injuries (including to Sharp who was replaced by Wayne Clark) but we spread the goals around with, I think, at least 5 players in double figures.

With Lineker in the team, if he didn't score then the chances of other players picking up the slack were not good - notwithstanding Sharp's brilliance.

Lineker was amazing but I think because that was the empty season and he dosent really care about Everton it's easy to forget this.
He has said more then once Everton was the best club side he played in, which factualy I guess is true
