10 votes for Lukaku (so far) and 7 for Alex Young, the worlds gone mad! Next thing someone will try and tell me Sam Allardyce will one day manage Everton FC!
I'm surprised Joe Royle only has a single vote.

Agree but he also had a team of winners to play with.I still can't believe how we didnt get what we deserved that season. If we had, that team, could have been remembered as our best. The speed of the attacking forays were incredible finished a lot by Lineker. They destroyed lot of teams before half time.Such a shame the season ended in complete heartbreak.Lineker. Absolutely hands down. As someone already stated, absolutely deadly. We had him for his best season too.

Indeed! Based on the title “greatest striker of the post war era”, Lukaku probably doesn’t even make the top five!

Has to be someone whose goals got us the league as a starting point. Sharp, Royle or Vernon, I plumbed for Vernon as he was a deadly finisher. Saying that Sharpy a very very close second.
I think Rom is getting some love because he's the best we've had in around 25 years and there's a lot of folks on here of that age. Some of us oldies are good enough for the 80's but not too many of us left that remember the 70's/60's.Indeed! Graeme Sharp scored 24 goals in 85/86 while partnering Lineker which dropped to 12 goals in 86/87 without him so to say Lineker's goals were at the expense of other strikers isn't really true.
Sharp and Lineker were a deadly front two (64 goals between them in 85/86) and were a genuinely feared partnership that I wish had stayed together as they were only going to get better and better.
