Where's the pace going to come from???

It's o.k lad's we'll negate our lack of pace by spending 50mill on Sigurdsson...

Joking aside, I can't believe we didn't even attempt to sign Iheanacho from Man City. Would've been just what we needed, but noooo...

As with the way we have started this season so far, never really got the ball up fast enough for him to stretch teams

Indeed, its currently a team tempo issue, new players finding it hard to gel, team shape all over the show, no settled first 11, early season issues, that will hopefully be fixed the longer they play together, 2 more quality players to be added in the next few weeks as well, not ideal considering the start, but whilst its pretty turgid stuff and the oppo hasnt been great, but are getting results, which is the only real desire.

We've lost Barkley and Lukaku and Oviedo....the remaining Baines and Mirallas need a walking frame to get round these days and Coleman isn't coming back the same player unfortunately.

Face it, this Dutch lad is intent on having 8 CMs on the pitch and none of them can run successfully for a bus.

Which underlines my point about the feller generally speaking: he can't blend a team. And in particular he cant build an attack that functions. He seems to have a lot of ideas about paying for them and bringing them in but when he gets them he's clueless about where it all fits.

Early days yes, but we look an utter shambles.

It is very early days.....

Spot on. If we win every game 1-0 I don't care if they all have Zimmer frames.........

...I think it's as much about tempo in this team. Players tend to receive the ball and dwell on it before passing safely sidewards or backwards. The tempo needs to increase with players taking the ball on the spin and releasing it quickly. Fast footballers are slow footballers if they play on their heels.

Bang on eggs, i don't see what pace would have done last night against packed ,deep defences. Tempo is everything , move the ball quickly. Everton in the home tie against Ruzomberok basically just ran the clock down for the oppo with their slow backwards and sideways passing.

The reason for this is a lack of ability in our CB's and CM's with the ball

i'd expect any team of 11 players to win a five a side tournament dave

All Braves and no Chiefs in this team. I see no one with the charisma and talent to get on the ball and make things happen. I'm completely shocked at how Rooney has been. He looks washed up I'm afraid. The rest are just players who dont inspire. Tom Davies is about the only one amongst them who you could think: 'Yeah, go on lad, you show them how it's done".

Make no mistake, this team are shaping up to be a new generation of uninspiring nearly men who only have it in them to raise their games a couple of time per season. I concede it's very early days, but they look poor as a group.

I think Klassen will be able to dictate play / tempo when he has time to settle with the team. Moves the ball quickly and well. Him and Rooney haven't worked well together so far. Id put Davies in the middle with one of Schnides / Gana ...Klassen behind a striker ( Sandro / DCL / a new signing ! )
A lot can ( + probably needs to ) happen before the window shuts.

Looked like the newbies where trying to hard. Their natural game will return once the pre season adrenaline rush has dipped. Tom looked great but he just played his normal game in a different position, everyone of the new boys out to impress and not playing their natural game.
