Its not too important where, we won't get relegated and it wouldn't hurt to swerve the Thurday Cup next season
More important is;
HOW
How we get there, how we play, the slightest bit of style, excitement and intensity would be welcome.
Thursday Cup is hard but boring, and a wonderful opportunity to explore an atlas very often. And unless we’ve got fabulous strength in depth is more of a chance to knacker players completely.

...the exact thing we’re shooting for?

:Blink:
No mate thats the target After these three;
1) Arrest the decline...(get rid of dead wood, 7,8,9 or more)
2) Get some forward momentum.
3) Develop a winning Squad
Then.
4) Finish 5th, because its no good fluking your way in to the Thursday cup at 7th being a dozen or more points off the pace for 5th. That only means...unless you successfully complete my points 1, 2 and 3...you won't do very well and still have to do all the travelling.
Unless you have the potential to aspire to a run to at least the semis, the whole competition is, except for away piss ups, a total dogs breakfast.
Not what we need just now, we are in a total s h1t state, the clock has had to be reset 4yrs.
By all means target the domestic cups while we rebuild...in fact, I insist.

There is deadwood, no doubt about it. But if the players above were on the bench rather than in the team we couldn't complain too much. 3/4 quality additions to our first team and ask be looking a lot stronger.

Nice idea but some of them have to be shifted for financial reasons. If we keep them all for the bench and add 3 or 4 top quality additions the wages to turnover ratio will be approaching 100%.

At one point a relegation scrap looked on the cards.

I'd be happy with anything other than that this season. Recent league results have eased the pressure and I hope we don't panic this month and bring in expensive sub standard players.

I wish us fans and the media in particular would stop mentioning the cup loss. Yes it was embarrassing but the RS kids would beat most championship clubs. If we'd lost away to someone like Sheff Wed there wouldn't have been as much fuss. I get why as it hurts more, but it makes us sound like a club in real crisis. We've just appointed one of the best managers ever and have an amazing stadium on the horizon.

Who wants to buy underperforming players from a club in crisis and who'd want to join us?

That's the problem we have. Which is why there can't be a complete overhaul. Brands has shifted out loads of our deadwood so far, there's still more to go.

Be our usual finish somewhere above relegation but below anything of interest allied to our routine cup failures we do mediocrity better than anyone

If it wasn't for VAR we'd be 6th already. Carlo can get us putting a run together and we can still pip united. I believe it'll be a failure to finish below the current arsenal team, whilst Sheff utd and Palace will drop off eventually. Wolves are weird, crap against crap teams, of which there are so many. Spurs will struggle without kane too, but will still be good enough for top 5/6 eventually.
