Leicester took advantage of the Sky 6 taking points of each other & making the King Power a fortress.

For us to do anything, we need to start beating the teams above us, make Goodison a bear pit again & hope the Sky 6 share the points around. Lads, it’s on ........

The Top 6 take points off each other every season.

Leicester were able to contain them and strike back through Mahrez and Vardy. But we're unlikely to see anyone challenge for the title from outside the Top 6.

However, we can aspire to take on the Top 6 next season, at home and even away.

The top 6 are world's apart from us in the players they can attract and the money they have to spend.

Until we've seen his first few additions to the squad then I think it'll be difficult to gauge compared with those above and around us.

I'd be content with sixth to eighth - perhaps even tenth - if the squad was streamlined with a plan in place and overall quality rose in key areas.

We have to be realistic that if we desire success, then a transformation is required and that'll not be a quick fix - certainly not in one window.

5th I hope I think the arse will fallout of a couple of clubs above us..
Spurs and Chelsea maybe.

There's a big gap between us and the Top 6.

To close the gap, we'll have to play a lot better and hope that one of the Top 6 slips.

It's possible for us to challenge the Top 6, but unreasonable to demand that Silva achieves it.

Leicester took 17 points out of 36 from the so called top 6 when they won the league. Arsenal beat them twice and got 2nd place.

They won 12 at home and 11 away so not entirely making their home ground a fortress.

We took 4 points from 36 against the top 6 last season. That is the issue we have to overcome as you have mentioned.

Everyone seems to think the Top 6 are invincible but every season at least one team ( bar City) will have a ropey time.

This year is was Arsenal and to a lesser extent Chelsea.Arsenal were definitely there for the taking.

Before that it was United and even the RS a couple of seasons back.

A half decent season and we could easily be right up there.

Can people please stop saying Top 6, like they’re of some sort of equal stature.

Man City are the Top 1, a million miles ahead of the rest. Then you’ve got Man Utd, Tottenham and Liverpool, followed by Chelsea and Arsenal.

We’re closer to Arsenal and Chelsea than what Arsenal and Chelsea are to Man City.

5th and 6th matter as much as 7th does. Gets you the Europa League.

I remember when we used to finish 6th and thought it was a disappointment. Certainly not going to start raving about it now.

I'd take a lower league position but an improvement in performances. After all, I can accept a defeat if we gave as good as we got and came at the opposition. Too many times last season we tried to park the bus and grind out a result and we were defeated by our own poor tactics.

Give the top six or so something to think about, claim a few scalps and genuinely look like an organised team with a plan and I think most fans will be happy. For me its more about seeing a philosophy and style rather than where we finish. I'll stay 7/8th.

Chelsea will be in transition, as will Arsenal, they will take points of each other too.

spurs COULD be in transition if Poch goes to Real madrid... who would they go after as replacement??

the RS could lose jurgen flopp to real , possibly... who would replace him??

we need a positive start after a hard and proper pre season.

who knows where we could end up.

i'll happily take 16th !

It's not what you do (8th)
It's the way that you do it
aka, on field performance/light at the end of the tunnel.
Then improve on that in the following season...and the next

Hate to say it but, being realistic we are closer to Bournemouth and Watford than Chelsea and Arsenal.

We’re closer to Arsenal and a Chelsea than what they are to Man City. They are facts.
Time obviously will tell, but our record against the top clubs plus our away form in general would point to it being a hard climb.I was dissapointed when he signed but thinking about it given our current position and resent history he's about the level we could realistically expect.
