What will it take for us to be a "big" European team?

There's no golden although the obvious answer however is a squad filled with quality players who desire to win and a manager who leads them.

Then we need to build a winning mentality with players who have experience of winning, so I'd start with domestic cups and the English title.

With that comes more experience of winning at the highest echelons in Europe, which again isn't a quick process, and that supports the others.

We need to "re-brand" as The Everton Titans or some such, and change colours from blue because it's unlucky in China. And pre-seasons in Orlando not Ormskirk.
These new club owners know how to do it right, see.

As good as all these ideas are, to be "big" you simply need to be talked up by the media constantly. There's several ways to this, but being in contention to win stuff is probably best.

Nothing in isolation will make a difference that aside it is never going to happen without vast upgrade in income .
A new stadium will be nice but lots of clubs have big and newer stadiums and it really hasn't enabled clubs to leap to the next level.Sad to say that Liverpool as a City just can't generate the machday hospitality income that is on offer elsewhere.
The type of commercial deals Everton are able to negotiate are just not up there. For instance we are told that the FF and new shirt sponsorship deal will be worth £15 million a season over the next 5 seasons. Even without a training ground sponsor Man Utd and Chelsea when you include they training kit deals both get around that figure each season.
Then you are hit with geography. Mourino clearly is realising that the majority of top players really don't fancy the prospect of being outside London those that are prepared to sign for clubs situated north of the Watford Gap demand a premium in wage terms.
So it comes down to someone stumping up a load of cash and we aren't talking about a one off we are talking about season after season till such time as the commercial activity is on a par and the monied people are drawn to the ground. The problem is that you have FFP being a real stumbling block
Becoming a top Eureopean club is a grand ambition but the first target has to be achiving on a regular basis a top four finish and that in itself is going to be mightily hard to achieve.

Leaders and players of great ability. I think we already have a very good manager in place who could win us things. Hopefully Moshi backs him in the summer.
