Current Affairs What is Woke ?

I get what you're saying mate, although I don't take offence as such - I just have a differing viewpoint to you, I think I'm a whole lot more sceptical for whatever reason.

Many of you read my posts, grab onto what you don't agree with and assume it's bigotry or hatred whilst dismissing the rest of the post explaining my viewpoint.

Ask me questions about anything mate, you know I'll give you an honest answer - I'm not a [Poor language removed] and don't feel the need to virtue signal or look good to strangers on the Internet.
It’s cool. You seem angered by many ‘woke’ (treating people with respect) things. Then you decide you’re almost woke.
Genuinely, I think you’re at a crossroads in your life

😎

See, that's not what my definition of 'woke' would be.

Politically correct, easily offended, overtly sensitive, idiocy, intolerance of other people's opinions. These are all traits of the modern day 'woke'.

HOWEVER!

Progressive, thoughtfulness, awareness of social issues and inclusiveness towards minorities are all traits also.

It's just a case of putting up with the first bits in the hope the other bits outweigh it.

A fantasy world should be immersing, a known fantasy world with a meticulous lore should definitely be an immersive experience. A company deliberately going out the way to destroy canon, lore and essentially across the entire show make it multi diverse for every race makes it almost laughable mate.
Is skin colour a integral part of the lore? I must have missed that in my read-throughs.

Tolkien would be spinning in his grave
Yes, but not because of they included a black elf ffs.

No, you’ve mixed the gammon definition of woke with the literal definition of woke and come up with nonsense.

People object to woke cos they can’t longer get away with being c**** to marginalised groups and so cry at being ‘cancelled’!

So in my defence.

Regarding reparations. I simply stated that i can't see monetary reparations being plausible. Didn't have any issues with a formal apology by the state and other forms of compensation.

The good, wise heroic people from the North and especially West are commonly described as 'fair' and although they aren't all blonde, several of the noble houses of Elves and Men have it as a characteristic; whilst the swarthy men of the South and East are almost universally under the sway of some Evil power.

That's not "lore" of course, that's just him painting a picture for the reader of what things looked like in his head when crafting the setting. Lore would be the Elves not dying of old age or illness, stuff like that.

I'm not suggesting anything untoward about Tolkien by the way. He was a man of his time and looked at Middle Earth through the lens of the world he knew, but holding it to that now and insisting there can't be a black Elf, Dwarf or Numenorean Queen is a complete nonsense because the messages and themes of the stories that underpin that world aren't remotely affected by what the colour of a character's skin is.

You must have missed the part were the elves were born into middle earth before the sun ever existed mate then, curious why they have skin pigmentation which only exists due to the bloody sun then isn't it?
Or the underground race of dwarves have a black queen etc.

Tolkien wrote the silmarillion as essentially a forgotten folklore of northern Europe, the show runners thought they could improve on it, when ones one of the greatest ever authors and they are talentless hacks virtue signalling

Think the elf is Latin American btw not black, they do have a Chinese elf in their though and all the other ethnicities ofc.

So it doesn't feel massively weird/jarring that in a setting such as this you literally have every ethnicity reflected in small communities - it's more diverse than most places on earth now - canon wise it makes zero sense as I've stated, unless ofc skin colour has no connection to climate in this world - Tolkien wrote at length about the creation of the world, the races including detailed physical descriptions, if using his material then why change it????

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word 'integral'
