Playing Devils Advocate Roberto said we'd be playing in the Champions League. Ronald, or any other manager, is hardly likely to say we'll gladly finish anywhere.

True, but the OP was 'what's Koeman's plan?'

Koeman outlined the target for this season early on - to get top 7...

Koeman clearly will never have an affinity with our fans or club in the way the crazy Kraut across the park seems to have already.
Think we are in for another Walter Smith type short reign myself.

Well he would if our fans weren't such utter melts and need telling how great we are and how we should be winning every league title in Europe...

Fgs, honestly it's getting pathetic.

Our new manager has been in charge for 11 league games. We're higher now than we were this time last year, albeit with a worse goal-difference due to that abomination the other night. We also, in general, have looked far better than the last 11 games of Martinez's tenure.

You can only develop an affinity if there's a bit of effort from both sides. FGS, we asked for honesty, and when we get it, we don't like it.

Sick to death of all the whinging and moaning and nit-picking. The squad is in need of a big shift, that much is clear.

The style has clicked a few times and when it has, we've actually looked very decent. But it hasn't clicked enough, I'm pretty sure all the people who actually are involved with the playing staff know that.

It honestly baffles me Ij.

We aren't playing well. That's the key. And sort of makes sense. But I just struggle with the impatience. He's barely got started.

Each to their own I guess. I'm giving him quite a lot more time myself before I start to hate on him. He's not been perfect but nobody would be. Especially to Everton fans.

90% of our players don't deserve to be here (my opinion). They deserve the flack.

We haven't been playing well, no.

Whether it's a hangover from last year or there's something wrong across the club remains to be seen, but since that one defeat at Bournemouth we've seemingly lost all the confidence.

To me, the underlying fact is, like you said, this squad isn't good enough to match the big sides.

It's just about good enough to get top 8 - and I said this in the summer. But it needs fresh impetus and new blood or we risk not even getting that.

As said, we're higher than we were this time last year, when we were supposedly (and in fairness, we did look good) playing some of the best football in Martinez's reign.

Judging one way or the other at this point is ridiculous.

Saying we are higher in the league then we were last season means absolutely nothing. Makes more sense to judge at the end of the season.

I keep seeing this "we" asked for honesty thing. Who is we?

He has messed up with his comments. This stuff about him being "honest" is a bit daft. He probably needs to be a bit more diplomatic in his response. It is obviously an issue as it has kicked up a big fuss and got some people questioning his suitability for the job. That's a mistake regardless of how true it is.

I wasn't a fan of his appointment in the first place but I agree that questioning stuff after 11 games is mad. At the very least he needs two seasons (Barring absolute disasters) two mould his own team. His comments whilst annoying are not the end of the world. That shouldn't mean he can just say anything and not be pulled up on it though.

I had countless debates last season about RM's 'guff'... I stuck up for RM until about March, and vigorously so. One of the major criticisms was his constant bs'ing and refusal to give us the clear picture.

And the key is, it hasn't got anyone who matters questioning his suitability for the job. I hate to be the one to say it, but football clubs don't revolve around their fans anymore - it's merely business. Koeman will be judged on his onfield work, and nothing else.

And yes on the rest I couldn't agree more. But what he actually said isn't anything to stress or panic over, in all honesty.

I honestly wonder if people thought we be top and unbeaten after 11 games playing like Brazil 1970 with just about the exact same players one of our worst managers ever put together.
They would find something else to cry about mate!! It's unbelievable!!

I didnt say it was.

I reckon you are wrong about him being judged on just his onfield work though. If he keeps saying stuff like he has done then the fans will turn on him (We are seeing it already, by some weirdos to be fair but still, this is how it starts).

Harmony and togetherness is a massive part of football. Its how the other lot across the park manage to still do well despite having a bog average side (it is..) everyone works towards the same thing, manager, players, fans.

Koeman being brutally honest will cause divisiveness. And we have seen for a good few years now that aint healthy.
