I am very angry at Ronald Koeman's recent comments regarding Everton and Lukaku. I want to start a Donald Trump-esque movement.

http://metro.co.uk/2016/11/09/manch...-play-for-a-bigger-club-than-everton-6246121/

"I think he can emulate Patrick Kluivert, who also rose to prominence at a young age and enjoyed a fantastic career. He eventually played for Barcelona and I can see Lukaku doing the same. Everton should normally not be the end for him. Romelu will not have made the most of his career if he plays for Everton for the remainder of his career. He has the potential to play for a bigger club than Everton, but nobody knows what will happen after this season."
He'll be at Barcelona in 2 years

I'd say job done then mate. it wouod have kept martinez here in my eyes as well.

The issue I had with Roberto was the fact the league form was so poor rather than the end result. even when that 7th spot was open last season. So if koeman gets us Europa then I'm happy with thst and I see that as his target achieved. If the board then finally back him then he gets an opportunity to prove himself to the clubs thst he wants to manage.

Make no mistake I see koeman as a mercenary manager rather than a long term one. a higher paycheck could see him leave either way , as that is what got him here to begin with haha

Exactly!

We definitely are capable of much better, yes.

And we will get better. The fact that even without playing well, we're higher than we were this time last year when we playing brilliantly, proves that it's not all bad.

That sounds good on paper Toff, but it also sounds to me like it falls into the old "lies, damned lies and statistics" adage.

I have no doubt we sit higher in the table than we did this time last year if you say so......but by how many places?

It can't be very many....I am sure we would have been in the lower reaches of the top ten, just below our current seventh.

And how do the points tallies compare?

It is more than possible a team with less points this season could be sitting higher than a team with more points were last season. Statistical anomalies and all that.

It is all relative to other teams around you.

What I do know for certain is the the entertainment value at this time last season was way higher and a sense of us needing "just one more push" was evident among many of us enjoying the thrills and spills of last autumn.

This current mood of doom and gloom is more resonant of the dog days of Martinez era Everton.....from March onwards.

Which, coincidentally, is when Moshiri entered stage right.

I think it fair to say most of the optimism and sense of a brand new world opening up to us has greatly eroded in the intervening eight months for very many of us.

Normally I hate the blank weekends which accompany these darned international breaks but right now I am relishing the thoughts of not having my weekend ruined....again ;)

This is my thought as well, if he wants to move to a 'big' club then doing well at Us must be a priority otherwise he'll find himself at Sunderland soon enough.

You would think so, J.

Top class footballers think differently, though.

Having lived in a pampered bubble and been showered with nowt but praise since he was a teenager, the sense of entitlement must be sky high.

In his mind he is Barcelona bound and his shortcomings as a manager are all down to outside forces, which his future Barcelona paymasters will understand and will happily bring a favoured son home in a gilded chariot ;)

I actually said it in another post mate.

We're a point and a place higher. It ain't a huge improvement.

But as stated, we were playing superbly this time last year. We've hardly hit any form so far.

It is all relative to teams around us mate - weirdly enough everybody is around about the same (in terms of points wise in the positions around us - bar Chelsea and Leicester).

And that's what I don't get. The doom and gloom.

Of course, it's never gonna be happy after a 5-0 defeat, and we must improve. But fgs, it feels like there's a good half of the fanship ready to jump on Koeman already, even though they'll have been the first to say how bad it was at the back end of RM's tenure (though there are of course some exceptions to the rule). It's farcical.

It is more than the Chelsea result, Toff.

IMO that was the culmination of a dismal run stretching back to mid September.

Even when we were winning the displays weren't convincing.

What happened at Chelsea could easlily have happened at City had they not spurned two penalties and we were under siege for ninety minutes.

The performances at Bournemouth and in the first half at Burnley, plus home to Palace, were mostly poor.

Chelsea just rammed the point home.

Then we have the manager running his mouth off and belittling our club.

And an owner whom has suddenly stepped into the limelight and designates Jim White as his go to guy.

Jim blooming White.

And on the most downmarket radio station imaginable

And that is what is making it all "doom and gloom" here on Planet Khal :(

Pretty sure that 'top 12', i.e. 10th or lower, would probably get him sacked, given that was Martinez territory.

Moshiri has already said the aim is European football. If Koeman doesn't deliver he'll be shown the door.

Hope that Koeman is held to the same disciplinarian standards that he sets for his players, and the same ruthlessness that moshiri spoke of him having is applied to him as well from above.

Hated the way Koeman very soon after joining effectively washed his hands of any involvement in the transfers etc, if so why he is he flapping his mouth about lukaku and his future, time for him to shut his fat slightly soggy wotsit like face and focus on managing and training the team better than he's doing instead of putting the club down.

Maybe so, but it's all going to end badly for him if thats the case!

Just out of interest if those who have decided Koeman should not be our manager (
and there seem to be many now,) got their wish ,who would you bring in at this stage of the season? I don't mean to be antagonistic I'm genuinely intrigued. At the moment I can't think of anyone currently available that I would be remotely comfortable with.

One thing I've had to relearn now I've started going the game again is that this forum isn't exactly representative of how Evertonians feel. In fact anything like from what I ascertain in and around the ground.

You say many, I'd suggest few who post a lot as appose many.

Probably true . I think my perception has been twisted by the hysteria.
