We must stick with silva as fans

for the sake of how well we do this season It Is imperative that we dont turn our back on Silva just yet. It has been possibly a poor start if you consider the opposition we've faced, however we are still not out of touch from where we want to be. If we start showing negativity in our home games then this will only serve to work against us.

Silva must improve on away form that is for sure and if he doesn't then he has to go. However if we look at previous managers, the minute the fans turned their back on them then it seemed their time was numbered and positive results seemed impossible. Silva still needs the time to prove himself and we really shouldn't turn on him just yet as there are still reasons to believe he can turn it around and as a club we just cant afford another season or two of transition.
Have to stick with silva and give him and brands a few windows , I read an article in the echo that the mentality of the club and the fans has to change . Always negative which is understandsble at the moment but we need to back the team and manager more.

Of course the Echo want us to stick with Silva, he has us right where they would like us to be

No point sacking the manager.

He wasn't given Zouma/a replacement
His Gana sized hole was possibly filled but he was injured very early on.
His Number 8 has been out for almost a month with an injury picked up in training.
We didn't buy a proven goal scorer, but we did get a very exciting prospect.

Our players are better than they have shown so far, we'll match 8th, probably better.

Is that NSNO? Of course not, but it's more palatable than reloading... Again.

Genuine question, what to you mean by reloading?

Because BRANDS is the stability, not the manager. Brands is in charge of moving from one manager to another with little disruption of how they want to play.

Silva is, essentially and quite literally, dispensable.

I understand this idea that Brands is supposed to provide continuity but in practice how would this work? So he gets a manager in the same mould tactically, who will be happy to continue with the same players generally?
I'm just curious, and by the way I'm a fan of sticking with Silva

Exactly. The whole point of having a director of football is so that the club can move seamlessly between managers, who are as transient as players now.

Different managers have different styles of management and you would also hope a new manager would implement a new formation and tactics.

Unless we wanna keep playing Marcos 4231?

So whilst its not as much distribution as in the past, its still not as seamless as you would think.

Interesting point this, punting Silva wont prevent Brands re building side, and even though we still have some holes to fill he is doing that.
We accepted it would take him a few more windows to do this in the summmer, it's a slow process, changing managers wont prevent it, it will help it. He might be able to find a manager with a plan that suits us, Moshiri never considered that.

Is he the stability needed though? It's too early to judge Brands, as it's too early to judge Silva. A director of football takes at least 4/5 years to have a true impact on the club. Recruitment, coaching staff, strategy, it's a long process.

As Silva and Brands joined at the same time, why the faith the Brands is the correct appointment and Silva isn't? (by the way, I'm sure brands will turn out to be a great appointment, but as Winston Wolf said, don't go sucking each other etc etc because he's signed a few and binned off a few, you know, his job?)

Both have taken in a huge task, hopefully over time it will prove to be a good decision.

I always thought that the idea was to appoint managers with a view to them fitting whatever style the director of football is pursuing, in which case they should be capable of coaching the players that have been brought in using the same criteria. There would obviously be an issue going from Silva to someone like Sean Dyche, but then such a move would suggest that the DoF doesn't know what he's doing anyway.

I'm not really a big believer in formations being important outside of choosing between a back four or a back three/five, and I fully expect the 4-3-2-1 debate to continue for as long as any manager feels obliged to play Sigurdsson.

Be truthful, how many posters would have been liking this if posted in 1983 ? How many of those who do admit to it will now admit they were wrong ?

These excuses don't hold up for the results against Sheff United/Bournemouth/Villa.
It's just poor management,
TWO DEFENSIVE MIDS
AT HOME
TO SHEFF UNITED!!!!!!

Why do the fans need to back the manager/team? You think that shower over the park would put up for any of this for more than a few months. Proper small club mentality. We shouldnt accept mediocrity. That's how we have ended up not winning anything for 25 years.

You're using someone who turned it around as an example for someone who has shown he goes through terrible patches every year. There's no indication, whatsoever, that the "give him time" brigade would accomplish anything other than more seasons of mediocrity.
