2017/18 Wayne Rooney

Good move for everyone would bite there hand of for 12.5mill.

The nice narrative is complete he had a good first half to the season but his days of being worth 150k to a squad trying to challenge at the top end are over.

I think a very important distinction needs to be made here with regards to Rooney and many repeatedly calling him an 'intelligent' footballer.

I would suggest a better word to describe him would be 'instinctive'.

An eye for goal, a burst of pace, a shot into the top corner.

A thinking man he is not and that is why he is so out of his depth and a constant liability in midfield (any part of it).

He is not a holder of the ball, a pass picker or game dictator. Never was and now, at his age, never will be.

A team-clogging waste of space that has a tearful Kenwright's stamp all over it.

He needs to be put out to pasture somewhere where his mere presence on the pitch is all that is required to fulfil his/his team's objectives.

If we are going anywhere, he has no place here.

America calling Wayne - and good riddance.

Mourinho was somehow managed to reduce lukakus goals a season by about 10 too
I was thinking this just the other day. He's scored 9 goals less than last season in the league (albeit in 3 fewer games) whilst being surrounded by far better players. It's almost like if the whole team isn't built around him he doesn't do so well!

Possibly, line by line, the most inaccurate post I have seen on here this year.

A burst of pace!?

Do we get £12.5m?

Three different clubs would have to help fund Wayne Rooney's mega move to Major League Soccer - including old employers Manchester United.

The Red Devils are still subsidising the striker's Everton wages to the tune of £10million a year after he moved on last season.

And now The Sun report Everton will have to add to that if they want to shift him on to current suitors DC United.

The Americans are willing to offer £3m a year and are governed by a strict wage cap system in the MLS.

And the 32-year-old is on closer to £15million a year - meaning between them DC United, Manchester United and Everton must stump up the cash to make the deal viable to Rooney.

Absolutely horrifying that.

Why not just keep him in the squad. He can still contribute in certain games and has already said that he would like to get involved in coaching the young lads. It makes no sense just to pay him to leave, when we can just pay him to stay.

With a different manager and more players with pace in the team he may be more effective.
