I'd class it as good news. The confirmation that Peel are behind it highlights it is moving in the right direction.

The claims of "Peel don't want anything to do with us and are playing us like fiddles" can be banished.

Imagine the uproar on here if Peel stated "no comment" or "we haven't discussed anything yet"

If Peel said " No Comment " or " we haven't discussed anything yet " some people would claim that as good news and it must be close to be announced.

That statement was a standard response, gives nothing away and doesn't add to what we already know.

It's not as optimistic as I thought it would be, tbh. I thought the announcement would contain a lot more detail about the type of development there would be and timelines.

This is just a bit of of flier for the media to make it look like real activity is happening.

Nice to hear of course, and I live in hope as we all do, but at this moment in time it essentially means nothing

It's the significance of those words mate, same guy refused to acknowledge anything before Christmas.

The club have spoken. They've said they have a preferred site (which has been confirmed by various sources to be the docks) and are pursuing it, along with backup plans.

Given the history of failed moves, and of speaking-too-soon, I'd imagine the club see it as far more prudent (not unreasonably) to wait until the deal is signed and sealed before announcing anything further.

One of the biggest concerns regarding the docks is whether Peel would be willing to do a deal. If you read today's quotes and see them as anything other than a confirmation that Peel are indeed willing, and even keen to have Everton involved with that area of development, then really there's nothing down for you.

I'd feel sorry for you, except we all know WHY you post this relentlessly negative drivel in every thread - and I doubt very much it's because you believe it. (if it actually IS that, then I really do pity you).

I think we're all feeling a bit down after Rom's gut buster yesterday. What should have been considered positive comments from both Mosh and Peel today haven't done much to quell the disappointments. Our resident doom mongers revelling in the news doesn't help either.

But hey. We're still moving forward and I'm sure after a couple of days and a good win at the weekend most of us will still be positive for the future. Still a good time to be a blue
