is this good or bad news??

I feel ike this could just be the mother of all teases. we as evertons are used to having the carpet ripped from right underneath us, we always stumble back to our feet only to be lured in with more promises of a golden new era and 'war chests' only to be struck down once more..

without sounding to day vek'y I'll believe it when I see a copy of the contract for a stadium build signed by all parties and diggers on site.

actually scrap that, i'll believe it when I'm sat in the stadium listening to Z cars...

Waterfront Stadium Is Close

A deal with Everton over a new waterfront stadium is close, with Peel Group saying a "state-of-the art" ground would make the Liverpool waterfront a “visual spectacle”.

Everton is in talks with Peel, who owns Liverpool's northern docklands and is developing it under the £5.5bn Liverpool Waters scheme.

Lindsey Ashworth, development director at Liverpool Waters for Peel said: "We're optimistic we will agree heads of terms to allow a state-of-the-art football stadium at the northern end of the Liverpool Waters. Maybe even Commonwealth Games.

“I cannot say how excited we all are.”

Mr Ashworth told the ECHO: "We're in quite healthy talks with Everton at the moment, so it's not finalised yet. But as Peel and as myself I would love to see a stadium on the waterfront.

"To have this as the anchor at one end of the waterfront, and then you go all the way down towards the ECHO arena... the waterfront would be a visual spectacle.

"So we're pushing forward with it, the council are helping, and I think we'll get to a conclusion. A good one. Hopefully in the near future."

It's not 99.9999% done yet so we're OK

"What's that, Lukaku has refused to sign a contract?"

"I'm afraid so Mosh"

"Right, announce something about the stadium and do it bloody quickly! there's still a couple of weeks for people to renew their season tickets!!"

Sorry to be sceptical, but I'm in a cynical mood after the Lukaku circus this past week

It wasn't Moshiri though, it was someone from Peel.

Not having a go at you directly, but our fans seem to be moaning one minute about a lack of info from Moshiri, and then complaining about potentially putting news out there to appease fans?

It's pretty obvious things are progressing with Bramley Moore Dock, but Moshiri has stayed quiet, and the only 'news' that has come out recently is from Anderson (Council), and now Lindsey Ashworth (Peel). So 2 of the 3 important parties in the deal. That's a positive for me.

Normally I'd be happy with a news piece like this, but I've just been ground down recently

Sorry if I'm harshing some people's buzz, it's just the way I feel right now

As Wiz said, we've had the rug pulled out from us so many times

Not blaming anyone, the club included as this wasn't released by them, but when it comes to stuff now I'll believe it when I see it

We've all had our fingers burned so many times for so long

I'm a cheerful bugger ain't I?

There we have it then: "hopefully in the near future".

'kin ell, could they be any more vague than that?

We are miles off.

Also, Peel have a history of being accused of land banking so they are always going to give the impression they are wanting to do a deal.

Quite a few people had thought this was going to be the big announcement of the stadium being confirmed. It's simply a rehash of news we have heard numerous times in the past few months.

I'm afraid to say I think you're spot on here.
