Waste of a place

I think he's a decent player, my only beef is that he just stops and grabs his face or pleas to the ref every time there is any contact with an opposing player. Play through that ****, dude.

There is one waste of a place (two prior to neville joining his loved one) but not worth worrying about now he's behind McCarthy, Gibson, Barry and barkley for a CM place.

Pienaar is a superb player. The best thing about the new additions, and the expected return of Gibson is that there shouldn't even be a place on the bench for that waster Osman.

You intimated that the period he was looking for a new deal was the only time we've seen him perform at his best, which (with respect) is a load of crap imo. Personally I think he achieved his best level of consistency during his loan spell in the 2nd half of 2012, but there's a massive leap from that to what you're suggesting is his driver.

What I said was his best bits of form were when he wanted something. Either during his loan spell when he wanted a permanent deal or when he wanted an improved contract when it was up for renewal. The bits in between when he’s got his contract are the bits when his form has dipped, you can argue coincidence but you can’t really disagree.

Your point about Baines is nonsense imo. They're the best left sided pairing in the league & the fact is that they interact so well & know each others game so well, which results in them combining superbly when on form. They're a great partnership & one benefits from the other.

In what way does Pienaar compliment Baines? All he really does is hold the ball with a swivel of the hips while waiting for Baines to overlap. All the creativity comes from Baines. When Mirallas played there briefly Baines was equally as good but we also had Mirallas running at people because it was less obvious what was going to happen. It’s become much easier to stop Pienaar and Baines these days because they do the same thing all the time, try to work a few yards of space for Baines to cross the ball. It needs to change and Baines isn’t the one who needs changing.

Pienaar's getting some stick as he's not been at his sparkling best so far this season, so that obviously means we can write him off & make him butters new hate figure.

He had a bad period last season as well which coincided with him saying he was looking forward to going on holiday on twitter. He then got a bllcking and suddenly sprung to life.

Lots of players get comfortable in their environment, not all players have that inner drive to achieve. He’s defo one of the former.

Now if you'd have just said that to start with I'd have agreed with you.

Most of us need a kick up the back side every now & again, & footballers are no different.

The distinct lack of any real challenge to his place can't have helped either, but we're not talking about a player who's been stinking the place out here, he's just not been quite at the peak of what he is capable of.

I actually think Pienaar is very good for us apart from his shooting...although amazed to see his goals per game record has been better since he rejoined us from Spurs. Thats right...he is actually MORE prolific now.

He is one whose true worth shows when those along side him are up for it. An excellent link player with a great turn on the ball which often creates an advantage for us in attacking situations. Despite being relatively slow he still always tracks back and is a better tackler than most give him credit for.

However when we are poor we see very little other than his work ethic. Once we get a win I expect to see him sparking off of the livewire Barkley and a Baines no longer distracted and looking to claim a starting spot for england. Especially if England make it to Brasil.

Certainly if you compare him to his rivals for a first team place in the area he plays, now that Barkley seems first choice, he has been much better than Ossie and Kev.

Be honest mirralas has been a lot worse its just most people lick his arse that much they don't see it any way there all learning a new style of play, and it takes TIME so calm the **** down stop ripping into the players back them. people saying kone is ****e no point he might score 20 goals this yearyou really don't know and you really cant say and until hes had a run of 6/7 starts, you cant judge until the new year tbh

He's looked better, still a way off but better. We need someone who can pick a pass through defence against teams playing very deep. Pienaar could be good for that. At least we have options now if someone is not doing it.

Agreed. As you say, for the first time in a long time we have options. This should make for competition, and this should lead to improvement all round.
