Waste of a place

Mirallas has been worse tbh.
Kevin (it's like playing with ten men) Miralles, yep I agree. He's a one trick pony.
You just don't get the time and space for that **** in the prem.
Again, I hope Martinez can get a little more out of him.

Pienaar is still a quality player. He never relied on his pace so his age isn't really an issue yet. Come jan I would like to see somebody like Dusan Tadic targeted however, as a long-term replacement for Pienaar he would be perfect! Then again, I am slightly concerned about the strength in central midfield. I'm happy with Barry, McCarthy and Gibson, but Fernando would've being a top signing. I think come January we could see Jelavić being sold unless he ups his game in regards to you know, actually scoring. His link up play is decent, as is Koné's, but Lukaku is gonna give us a different dimension totally. If we need to strengthen the midfield I'd like to see us go back for Fernando or at least a player like him, and then target a replacement for Pienaar who can also cover Jelavić's goalscoring (Tadic would be perfect)

I'm pretty sure Mirallas will come good. He looked quality all pre-season, there's no reason to doubt him! With Lukaku now coming into the squad he'll give opposition defenders much more of a headache than Koneé or Jelavić, hopefully allowing mirallas to push into the space that creates.

Pienaar hasn't been that bad. Technically our best player. He hasn't been at his best granted but even not at his best he offers something to the team. One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

I think he's been fine, though he's playing the same way he did under Moyes: out on the wing, creating but not attacking. I don't know how long that will fly in the 4-2-3-1, he really needs to get himself into the box more.

2 away games 1 home. Pienaar is often bullied (and not protected by refs either). You'll often find him a bit out of games if he's been singled out for treatment - and there's a reason for the treatment: it's cos he's still a pretty decent player.

Jelavic and Osman are obvious candidates, but for me the ultimate waste of a place is Steven Pienaar.

He's been badly gash for a while now IMO. He disappears in games and constantly makes the wrong decisions. He must also be one of the worst finishers I've ever seen.

Leon Osman deservedly gets criticised on these forums, i'm just wondering why Pienaar seems to escape getting much flak?

Whack Deulofeu in the mix instead of him I say.

Alright mate, do you watch him live or on the TV. if its the latter its very diffucult to see what he gives us (due to the camera following the ball) His movement and intelligent running off the ball is second to non, he creates space for himself and other players better than anyonin our team. Take pienaar out of the starting eleven and we will see a big difference in creating chances.

I admit Pienaar wasn't his best last season but I think he's done ok so far this season, I think he will be back to his usual form soon

Think he's been okay, and starts for me in our best 11. He tends to be reluctant to play the obvious pass these days, and his link-up with Baines is suffering a little from being over-elaborate.

Maybe he hasn't been saying his prayers?

Go to about half of the home games mate and watch the rest on the telly, so observationally I'm half rice half chips.

I can appreciate what your saying with his movement etc, I just don't feel that that's enough to justify his place at the moment. Other parts of his game, such as his shooting and final pass/cross are currently terrible - the ball turns into a Shoot 5 when he takes a shot.

He is a great player but he's been out of form for at least a year.

I'm sure Deulofeu could offer intelligent movement and also add an end product.

I disagree with the OP.

He may not have been hitting the form we've come to expect from him, but he's not exactly been garbage.

Now Baines is deffo staying, I think we'll see an upturn in form. No longer unsettled.

So the new arrivals look like they're going to force Leon onto the bench, so in anticipation of this, we've singled out a new fall guy in advance - good work.

This.

Pienaar is not as good as he once was but he´s consistently one of our most important players. If you react to him losing possession once in a while it´s because he´s become a victim of his own high standards.

He´s not a goal scorer, but he never has been so it could hardly have come as a surprise for you he´s not banging them in this season.

I think he's been decent so far this season however he was gash 75% of last season. Mirallas as people have pointed out has been very poor so far but I still wouldnt want him dropped. Hopefully the arrival of Lukaku will sort him out. Duelofeu does deserve more playing time I have to say
