Villa > Everton

I've always considered Vila and Forest to be two teams that should be in the Premier League given their history. No, Villa aren't bigger than us, but yes that European Cup does speak volumes.
Forest are a weird one. A lot of people talk about them being historically a big club, but they're really not. They've spent (substantially) less than half of their history in the top flight, and their entire honours list basically consists of a 10 year period. I think it's basically just fans of a certain vintage remembering them at the pinnacle of the game and believing they were always there.

I just knew that was coming... i was gonna put not Gary, but thought i would let this one play out. He was good but probably would have preferred the cup tbh! ;)

They are big, easily as big as we are.

Loads of trophies, good big ground, huge support.

Don't be ridiculous. The 'loads of trophies' you refer to were predominantly won over a century ago. In any objective attempt to answer the question 'who is bigger' you'd surely have to weight how recently those trophies were won. I'll give you their shout in winning the EC; but then so have Forest. For me their regular seasons spent outside the top Division mean they can never be put alongside the mighty Blues.

I feel like they are cherry-picking here. 2009-2010. We're 7th there iirc. And we were almost always in front of Villa almost every other season. Bit odd that they are saying that NOW we are trying to break into the top 4 when we have been contending for the last 13 years(minus the last 2).

Villa are as big as us. Who's bigger is arbitrary, and subjective, as it depends on your metrics. We have more league titles and longer in the top flight, but they have more domestic cups and a European cup.

I'd take more of an issue with people calling spurs a bigger club. If spurs were based in Stoke the media wouldn't be arsed. 2 league titles in their history ffs.

I think arguments over the "size" of clubs are fairly redundant tbh. It's all relative. Barcelona win everything all the time, but I wouldn't bat an eyelid if they went insolvent and disappeared tomorrow. Everton are the biggest team in my mind because we're intangibly boss and no success or lack of success will change that.
Exactly. Relative.

Like the 'what's an Everton legend' argument, what's a big club?
