Villa > Everton

The whole point of football is to play top trumps against other clubs. I used to especially enjoy this in the 90's, because what we saw on the pitch was crap, least that was a great source of amusement and pride.

Back then though we had still won more league titles than utd...

They don't mate. We've had a higher average attendance than them every season since 2012.

We also had a higher average attendance than them during the mid-1990s, when they were good and we were not, and also, curiously, when we were really crap in 1999/2000 and 2000/2001.

There were also numerous seasons in 2000s when we had a higher average attendance despite having a smaller ground with worse facilities.

I reckon Villa will have a bigger fanbase than us purely due to them being based in the 2nd biggest city in the Country and because their rivals for support in that area are Birmingham and West Brom. On the other hand we are based in a much smaller city with a club who has won 18 league titles and 5 European Cups. 35 miles away is a club that has won 20 titles and 3 European Cups, and now a side that has won 2 league titles since 2012. Villa don't have a single club within 35 miles that comes close to even a Man City.

However, we have a far bigger and more loyal matchgoing fanbase which is what counts in my opinion. In fairness to Villa, their away support in the past 2 seasons has been very good, especially this season when they've been down. I don't think we could have bettered it to be honest as they were taking 4,000 (sell outs) to Reading midweek etc after not winning away for a whole year. But a few years ago their away support had dropped to an embarrassing level. Several away followings around the 1,000 mark at places like Man City and Newcastle.

Not to mention our away support.

Yeah, a good point too. This season we will have sold out 18 of 19 aways, with Sunderland midweek being the only one with about 50-100 empty seats so still a good 2,800-2900 I would guess.

Only the "big 6" will have sold out all 19 aways and we know from past experience that if Chelsea, Man City or even Spurs were in our position they wouldn't do the same. Spurs would have had the best away support of the 3 I mentioned after 2 11th placed finishes in my opinion but I don't reckon they'd have sold out 18 out of 19 aways after the 2 seasons we've just endured.

Look sorry lads, but a lad we attempted to buy, with obvious mental issues suggests a team he's played for is somehow superior, in a massive brain [Poor language removed] attempt to possibly gee a team up to a better place than we are......... even though we don't do kopite "I'm better than you stuff" suggests we let this go to oblivion and drown him out to hell seems fairly cool.....

You'll win the league deffo this year you spakkas.... Gerrards back

Pancake Tuesday yesterday too. .

This may make some sense if there's anyone here who watches "it's always sunny in philadelphia"

I'm doing frank [Poor language removed] xxxxx

[Poor language removed] waving over who is a bigger club is cringeworthy, leave it to the millenial cringe merchants in the daily mail comments section.

However if forced to give an opinion on how big a club is I'd base it on the size of their fanbase and not on their trophy count.

Trophies = how successful you are

You can have a huge a fanbase and still not win trophies.

Spurs are ridiculously massive, their waiting list is huge, villa also probably have more fans than us due to being the biggest team in a bigger city than Liverpool.
I agree with you regarding the fanbase. I still consider villa to be a big club, but not necessarily above Everton. Credit to the Geordies last night for their following to Brighton in their televised game. I think when we get our new stadium and hopefully the fantastic location and facilities, other fans (maybe not dean Saunders) will once again recognise what a big club Everton are.

Can't believe how many on here think Villa are even on a par with us or even ahead! Go and get to know yer history these Blues.
And as for Spurs, do us a favour. Obviously some of our posters listen to too much Talksport.

What a load of nonsense Villa are not a big club even when they were doing well they couldn't fill their allocation, Everton , Spurs and Chelsea are far bigger clubs than Villa. In terms of support they have less fans than Sunderland and Newcastle so the divvy needs to get his head sorted. Their not even that bigger than Birmingham really in terms of away support. When have Villa taken 10 000 to France like we did against Lille or 3000 to Kharviv. Honestly I'm surprised he's allowed on TV at all the dope, Villa are not a big club like clubs like United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Us, Chelsea, Spurs, Leeds, Newcastle, Sunderland, and West Ham. S**t on the Villa.

You cant deny historical achievements. And especially Evertonian doing that yould be kinda stupid.

But like I said. You just cant shout and spout kak from the championship.

I'll be generous here but id say, that all In all, Villa is two steps behind us.
