VAR

We didn't have the personnel in the last 20.
var can't step in for yellow cards unless mistaken identity.
we lost two of our stand out performers in game.

the prick with the whistle couldn't book pickford fast enough, it was his personal christmas day.

been a terrible season this for us falling to the sucker punch. the naivety that playing honest and true will bare rewards.

I know 110% why Moyes wanted McGinn. We do not have enough snide in the ranks.
Yeah I know var can’t do bookings I was talking about the refereeing in general

I assume Pickford asked for the booking which we all know is an instant yellow and dumb of players to still do it

I hated yesterday, it was horrible, but I don’t see how we can blame the refereeing

I agree on McGinn which made it more annoying we didn’t make a sub in midfield. Alcaraz is basically a young McGinn, gets stuck in, covers loads of ground, plays forward, has a shot on him - I don’t know why we didn’t bring him on for Gana who was cooked and move KDH back next to Garner and have a go.

Especially when we are talking about hair's breaths and tight margins. Offside was designed to stop goal hanging. The way the rule is currently interpreted is against the spirit of the law. Unless there is clear space between defender and forward, a goal should always stand.
Also - the VAR images they show for offside never show when the ball was played.. so they never prove that it was offside anyway. That are actually totally useless.

Since when is that a thing? See players asking for yellows for opposition players all the time but they never get carded for it. I would say the yellow for Pickford was the fact he left his goal area and charged at the ref.

It’s been a thing for ages mate
If you tell a ref ‘that’s a booking’ you will get booked in the premier league every time

Brilliant when they show animated version of the passage of play they have looked at as if interpretation of actually footage is more compelling. Kin arrogant divvies the lot of.

the whole point of offside was to stop goal hanging, not to stop a great goal because in the build up, the shin of a player, 40 yards from goal and out on the wing was a few inches beyond the defender. If the torso looks level on the footage, go with onfield decision, or allow the conceding team to have one appeal per half, otherwise, VAR stays for restricted other stuff.

I guess they can argue that they had made the effort to get up the pitch in a line to catch us offside.

I know what you mean, though I was more annoyed with Jake as there was no reason for him to be offside as no one was marking him and he could see right across the line.

He was half a yard off, it wasn't even close. The more annoying thing is that if the lino just puts his flag up there's no momentum shift, but because we carry on and score and then VAR gives the offside it changes the dynamic of the game.
