VAR

Well this is a bit silly. Very subjective.

Referees will be given the power to start a five-second countdown if they feel players are taking too long over throw-ins

Added time for Liverpool, they need a goal: Referee gives Konate 15 seconds to trot across the pitch, dry the ball, shuffle up the line a little and prepare for a long throw. After 35 seconds, the referee gives him a 5-second warning. Throw is taken 8 seconds after the warning.

Everton need a goal, it's 91:40 and two minutes are added on. Mykolenko is close to the ball already and quickly retrieves it and starts to dry it. Referee blows his whistle for a 5-second warning. Mykolenko throws it on 6 seconds and referee awards throw in to opposition.

That's how it will work.

I see this is a good rule to be brought in, subjective rules is not the issue. In all contact sports it is impossible to make most rules with no subjective aspect, force, intent, etc.

The issue is the trust we have in football. Rugby, for example. The 5 second 'use it' rule was universally accepted as a good thing, but the neutrality trust levels are a lot higher in rugby.

I’m surprised there are no entries here after today’s game.

You obviously can’t complain about the offside decision because it was offside but today was a good example of how it’s ruining football.

Big game, big goal. Crowd goes wild, jumping on each other, cheering singing. Three minutes later, they all feel like t*ts. It affected how the crowd responded to the Beto goal too. It makes you reticent to celebrate in case you look daft.

‘Getting the decision right’ is no justification for taking this kind of emotion out of the game.

If the Linesman had put his flag up it would have saved a lot of effort.

I thought JOB was offside(I was sitting in line with him)when he received the ball so surprised play carried on.

Nah for me that’s exactly what VAR is for. He was offside and VAR gives it, it’s not a millimetre it’s fairly clear, you can’t really argue with that.

As much as I hate to say it after a horrible defeat - VAR was correct and all the big decisions were correct today, it was off side and neither times KDH went down were pens

All I’ve got is that van dyke, gravenberch and Szobozlai should’ve all been booked first half but also Gana should’ve been booked in the second and tbh you probably prefer a ref overall to try not to book players in a derby it just happened to favour them a bit more than us

I’d love to be cross at the refs, but I’m cross at us for not having a go at winning it more in the last 20 mins

Especially when we are talking about hair's breaths and tight margins. Offside was designed to stop goal hanging. The way the rule is currently interpreted is against the spirit of the law. Unless there is clear space between defender and forward, a goal should always stand.

Did VAR review the possible pen on KDH? Not seen it back but looked like one from the south stand
Exactly
That was not shoulder to shoulder
That was a clear foul , a shove to knock KDH off his stride and off balance.
His arm is clearly accross his KDH'S body.
There's no need for him to go down as he's clean through and is fouled.

I genuinely believe if its the other way round VAR would have looked at every different angle in slow motion until they give a pen.
The ref made his mind up before KDH had hit the deck. Shocking refereeing.

We didn't have the personnel in the last 20.
var can't step in for yellow cards unless mistaken identity.
we lost two of our stand out performers in game.

the prick with the whistle couldn't book pickford fast enough, it was his personal christmas day.

been a terrible season this for us falling to the sucker punch. the naivety that playing honest and true will bare rewards.

I know 110% why Moyes wanted McGinn. We do not have enough snide in the ranks.

This is the point for me. You always celebrated goals and then looked quickly at the linesman. If his flag was up, you shut up within three seconds. VAR leaves you in limbo for minutes on end

Beto did the same thing on one of their players and got pulled-up for the foul. I was screaming at the telly because KDH didn't get one. Kin ref.
