VAR

Problem is with the PGMOL and the Man U’s of this league, they’re always fine to acknowledge ‘learnings’ after the event when it’s too late and the damage is done with the usual suspects benefiting 🤬

Never admit to getting it wrong. None of the refs 10-20 years ago did. Makes them look weak.

Clattenberg never openly admitted the derby until years later. Think Howard Webb in a world cup final never did until later.

Collina against us in the champs league...

Just seen it.
Wondering if thats at Villa Park its allowed. Possibly not as keepers do seem to be instantly protected. They need to change this VAR rule that they cant get involved if the whistles been blown. What difference does it make. One quick look at that on replay and he's changing his mind.
var got involved with the whistle blown for our late penalty against... surprise surprise... man utd.

The complexity of the var rules and the seeming bad faith with which they are selectively used is as much of the problem as the rest of it.

A dedicated team of active var refs that supported the referee completely would be useful, they'll never hear naughty words and worse on the field, it's why the ref is there, but, with hundreds of millions at stake, moving towards the rugby league model must be worth at least a try? there's bigger gaps in the game currently compared to league anyhow.

People going United could go down next year.

No way Prem/FA allow one of their blue eyed boys to get relegated.

Today another example of united still getting outrageous decisions their way

VAR has turned what used to be enjoyable, passionate games of football into technical breakdowns and analysis that just destroys the flow that made games so exciting.
The game in general is over officiated now and it's all done for the benefit of the TV audience to 'create' tension. Hard lines for the proper match going fan though who aren't thought about anymore

Nothing wrong with VAR its doing exactly what was intended help create the best outcomes for EPL, Villa in this instance need ownership that trumps Newcastle ownership...
Wasn't VAR to blame for that though but the referee instead. In situations like that though they should of used common sense rather than sticking religiously to the rule book about not being able to use VAR because the referee blew his whistle

I remember the likes of Brian Moore always going on about teams being at their most vulnerable straight after they had scored. Not these days. They get a good 5 mins period of calm and reflection to get themselves sorted ...

Officials pick and choose, VAR is used perfectly well in other sports, only football has created this problem between VAR and officiating, EPL has created peferct editing tool to create the best outcomes for EPL interests.

Every decision yesterday went against us (stonewall pen etc) and Villa. Had to make sure that Murders FC got their CL place.

The hilarious thing is that we both voted against changes to VAR which would have helped us.

I thought it was a pen for us yesterday, but regardless, get rid of this VAR, decisions are even more controversial now than they were without it.
Its killing the joy for me.
