VAR

Just watched the miked up thing on Sky absolute farce but didn't expect anything else, Webb just backed the ref and var as per, agreed that they concentrated on the wrong angle but got the right decision as the tug on the shirt was minimal, unbelievable......then the clown Owen agreed and said they got it right in the end!!

No one seems to have noticed the Maguire trip on Young either as hes moving over, as vid on here showed. if intentional or not, still a trip, and another reason why he went forward

The question is why they concentrated on the wrong angle...they're all in bed with each other. Sometimes I can't be bothered with football anymore as it's clear as day that there is corruption at the highest level. This is not incompetence...a 5 year old child would know straight away the best angle to show the ref.

Add one part officiating bias that we all know exists and has been proven in the game with the stuff about Barca and Real being told to get beneficial decisions.

Add another part controversy getting clicks and free advertising And you’ve got the PL VAR cocktail of anti-competition.

Absolutely disgusting from the moment the VAR got involved to the cover up by Webb and co.

They deliberately failed to show the damning evidence because they didn't want to give a penalty against Man United.

Webb is a disgrace and clearly happy lying to us. He says that the ref wasn't shown the best angle but still maintains they got it right which is a complete contradiction and bending of the truth.

They've also explained it away by saying De Ligts actions didn't meet the threshold. I'm almost certain that if the ref was shown that proper angle he'd have been confident sticking with his decision and they couldn't have labelled it a clear and obvious error as there wasn't one.

Took them weeks to come up with the story about what to say with the audio, and that’s the best they can do - a total complete load of bollox.

Corrupt, simply corrupt.
Hilariously weak explanation. I posted before the match ended the excuse would be the ref blew for Maguire, VAR reviewed and decided clear error, penalty overturned. Ref missed De Ligt foul, VAR saw it but deemed it wasn’t a clear error, so did not FORCE the ref to consider it.

That would be still wrong, but would at least be an explanation that was based around their stupid “clear and obvious” based rules. But the waffly explanation given now is even more wrong than that. It’s an explanation and audio that openly shows they don’t really know what’s happening, and have adopted some robotic childish code-speak to sound official and avoid the sort of miscommunication that happened a few months ago.

From the Lord of all refs, we got “Not every foul is a foul. Angles not shown but were shown, and even if they were/weren’t the referee would still have said no foul.” Am sure he initially says we accept that all the angles weren’t shown, then later says they were shown “briefly”. Ref turned away just as the damning angle came on the screen.

Embarrassing for them to admit mistakes after every weekend, but fans would probably accept Webb coming out and saying “Yep, another one we got wrong…..the guidance has now been changed etc etc.” At least try to move it forward.

Get the AI offside thing working properly, keep the goal line tech which is great, then throw the VAR truck in the bin. Take all the money and use it to put at least one extra human ref on the field of play in addition to the linos. Simple; more angles covered in real time. Added bonus of being easy to implement in lower divisions and improve things for them. Watching things at 0.00002% of the speed they occurred can never, ever, ever work for the types of actions they are reviewing.

The worst thing that has happened to any sport ever in terms of accuracy, fan enjoyment, player enjoyment and consistency of outcomes. And it’s entirely self inflicted.

Oh, that audio is not a good look for them. Pretty damning in my opinion and I get why they didnt want it out. The whole time the assistant VAR is questioning this weird fixation the VAR has with Maguires left hand, and tries to bring up De Ligt and other stuff going on, and the VAR brushes it off then forces the showing of just the one angle. Absolutely intentional by the VAR, zeroed in on it immediately, had an agenda, ignored the AVAR and put him in his place, then chose to manipulate the angle to get his desired result.

----
VAR: Show me Maguire's left hand.

Assistant VAR: The broadcast isn't showing Maguire.

VAR: No, I need a different angle to see what Maguire's left hand does.

AVAR: Is it Maguire or is it the other players, with the left hand?

VAR: He's described Maguire's left hand.

AVAR: There's another player beside Maguire.

VAR: There's also De Ligt. What's De Ligt's actions? Minimal. Do you feel that Maguire's left hand makes Young fall in that manner? I don't see an action from the defender. I don't see a penalty kick there, I'm going to recommend an on-field review.

Howard Webbs comments in trying to cover up the blatant farce of a decision are laughable. Like a kid caught misbehaving in class yes but no but it was done that way because it wasn’t yes or no it just was the way it is.He contradicts himself every few sentences, he Talks a load of nonsense thinking we’re all as thick as sh@?to try to confuse us. He is hoping when he has finished he has confused us to the point we’re we think yeah he isn’t talking out of his ass he is talking sense and he is right.
