VAR

Everton are part of problem, you can complain all you want, but unless you just call out blatant corruption nothing is going to change. Before VAR bad referees could be punished. Now ref can blame VAR officials, VAR officials blame referee. Zero accountability.
There are 14 clubs who regularly get screwed by VAR and refs. Enough to vote for change. But you have clubs like palace who are so terrified of losing the scab 6 that they are happy to tolerate what is blatant cheating.

Probably should just not offer my opinion since I'm a Yank, but the problems with VAR are all a problem with PGMOL refereeing, process, and technology. Every sport played in Yankmerica as well as our 51st State uses this technology to varying degrees. Hockey has had a good system for a long time and people still complain about the time to get it right on some calls that take 3-5 minutes review. Of course, stoppages are more common in hockey than soccer/football but people will stop complaining about stoppages if the calls are consistently right. The NFL has the review process almost perfected, with an average review time right around 2 minutes. There are some simple steps for making VAR work, but the issues are not at all technological; the issues are all governance.

Any sign of Pigmol releasing the audio from the United penalty farce anytime this millennium?!

Any sign of Everton actually being arsed to kick off about it…….
I am hoping that some journalist asks the question in the press conference this week, but wouldn't be surprised if they don't and it's completely forgotten which for me is unforgivable.

Should have stopped at that.. nobody wants to see a 2 minute stoppage for VAR, It was bought in to correct clear and obvious errors, any more than 20 seconds looking means it isn't clear and obvious. Keep it for offside bin it for everything else.

"The Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel unanimously voting that the VAR intervention to overturn Everton's penalty against Manchester United was the correct decision"

All over the news...this is corruption at the highest level. Going crazy here...this has to be raised by the football club.

I don't know if you understand how time works, but you aren't going to get an accurate review in 20s

Never heard of this panel. But strange how it's got ex players in it who probably don't understand the rules. On the face of it, it was a soft penalty. But the rules state it wasn't clear and obviously not a pen. End of

Enough of that, please.

It's noticable that Football fought the implementation of video tech the hardest and has continually had the most issues. Every other sport makes it work.

IMO it's almost all a process issue. Trying to figure out both which of the referees is in charge and how and when do you need to go to the side of field screen. I think these are easy to answer and implement, but some of that may be a cultural issue as well.

But then again, I'm a Yank
