VAR

I wonder how 3 players would have called these decisions.?
Ive always thought referees were the posh lads at school, like prefects. Crap at sport so go into it to lord it over the plebs.
If you have played the game, even at pub level, you can tell a foul from a genuine attempt to get the ball or a dive.
I hate VAR. Its a joke. It kills the game a seems like they look at it to find something wrong.
We can discuss it all day but how does the message get to the prefects that it stinks and should be put in the recycling bin along with water breaks.

It’s a case of the Premier League just wanting to protect its most valuable participants, that’s blatantly all it is, they clearly don’t care about the ramifications these decisions have on the ‘other’ teams. It’s blatant corruption looking at us right in the eyes but sadly nobody will speak up about it.
The Man Utd game last minute disallowed winner for us made this quite clear - and funnily Utd are now looking odds on for a top four finish....

Var should have leveled the playing field...
The main issue is it's still at the discretion of the refs...
Time and time again we've seen refs make mistakes, only for their colleagues to come out in force defending them, as long as the idiots aren't held accountable and are left to get away with incompetence and obvious bias the league will suffer.
It's a closed club that looks after its own, they never want to call each other out and overrule each other

On MOTD they've said the PGMOL have admitted Southampton's penalty v us, Man U's penalty v Villa, and Spurs' ungiven penalty v Bournemouth were all wrong decisions.
A f'up in every game is unacceptable. This is the Premier League for god's sake. Standards must be higher.
The refs seem to be giving more pens (don’t know if that’s true but feels like it) since restart and I wonder how much that is to do with not having crowds in the place as the refs in our league have a complete arrogance towards the players coupled with overt cowardice towards the howls of the fans.

The refs now are currently worse than I can ever remember. It’s hard to think of a genuinely good one - Oliver is about the only one that comes to mind - and half of them look overweight.

Since introduction, The VAR officials have seemed to want to do everything they can to either avoid having to make a decision or to avoid overturning the ref.

the red card for the arsenal lad the other night was similar. Looked to me a yellow at full speed so I thought the ref got it right, but as soon as you’ve seen the replay once you realise he could be in trouble, you just need to see the other angles to make sure he made contact (one angle can Be misleading and while it was reckless it wasn’t nasty/intentional). 2 views laters it was obvious he had to walk, and yet still the VAR ref wouldn’t make the call and told the ref to take a look at the monitor instead.

do your job.

the only way forward for VAR is it can do two things

1) Decide on offsides - whether you like it or not; it is getting the decisions correct (rules could be softened though)
2) Tell the ref to go to screen to review a decision

I dont care if it means there are 10 screen views a game for a while, ultimately it will improve & speed up.

Imagine that fat turd Mason having to run to the sidelines and back 10 times a game to review his decisions. Not sure he could do it.

VAR was brought in to correct obvious mistakes.

We’ve had to accept the stoppages and slowing down of the speed and rhythm of the game, but it (the refs) are still getting loads wrong.

Bin it, may as well just let the ref in the middle get them wrong, and remove the pauses and stoppages.

im not with you on bin it, it's a pain in backside at times, but technology is here to stay. It's about refinement and improvement

the overruling the ref clearly not working, I think it will be easier for the ref to reaccess his / her own calls.

I'd be in with that. In fact, Linesman could be freed to help deal with the review as there is no need for a flag. If anything having the flag go up can impede the game if the incorrect decision.

If Moss had to do it he'd have to blow for a free kick on the way.

Oh yeah, it won’t get binned, just expressing my preference.

I remember the Spurs home game this year, with a 5 min+ delay, and no-one in the stadium had any idea what they were checking, and it ended up home and away fans booing and chanting F VAR in unison.

And they still got the decision wrong (the spurs handball which most other games have given all season).

Not only the VAR needs looking at but red cards have annoyed me for as long as I can remember . A player is sent off in the last minute and it the following teams that will benefit .I heard a sin bin suggested and that would seem a bit fairer ,the red card situation is ludicrous and the fact an obvious wrong yellow can't be rescinded unless there are other conditions met !! If it is a mistake then it should be put right simple as.

The problem isn’t the technology, it’s the incompetence of those viewing it.

Just watching Villa v Man U. Penalty given to ManU, clearly no contact (other than the ManU player stepping over the ball & standing on the defender). Ridiculous decision.
I was certain it would be overturned & maybe even a card for the ManU player....., No.
You say incompetence I say corruption.

Refs and the VAR need to be mic'd up every game. I don't buy the excuse that the players language isn't fit to broadcast. The technology exists to turn the refs mic on or off via the red button. The reason they don't want ref's with microphones is it will be harder to justify bent calls. It's easy after the game to make an excuse, but in the moment, on the spot, it will be harder for them to cheat.
