Usmanov

Conspiracy theory alert: what if Brands and Usmanov planned to leak the story to one of Brand's Dutch media contacts in order to put the Everton link back in the spotlight to help entice top players without Usmanov having to come out and say he's planning to move to us? It would also help to remind potential buyers of his shares that they are now available without it among like he is desperate to sell up quickly (which could lower his bargaining power). Also he didn't want to sell to Kronke but what's to stop one of Kronke's lesser known acquaintances from buying the shares with the agreement they'll sell to Kronke for a small profit in a year's time? Hmmm - I need a better nights sleep.

Kronke doesn't need his shares - that's the issue. Kronke already has control - don't see why he'd spend £700m to allow Usmanov to go and make one of his competitors stronger.

The only feasible scenario is if someone else comes in and buys those shares from Usmanov... but again - why would you spend £700m on shares that won't give you any say in how the club is run.

I hope that it's true and that Usmanov sells up - I just think that it's still very unlikely.

Fingers crossed!

Kronke wants the shares because he would then be able to float them on US stock market as he's done with his other brands

Hasn't Kroenke offered to buy the shares before? Could have sworn I heard only recently that he had made an offer for them?

Could be to make profit then sell on as the business grows.

That would make sense.

He made an offer last year - but I think the value of those share has risen by about 25% since then.
The point Aglee made above would be a legitimate reason for him to want to buy anyway.

Note: I'm not trying to argue it won't happen - just trying to control my own expectations. That report yesterday about Arteta being given only 50m if he gets the Arsenal job would make me think Usmanov is approaching the end of his tether - he seems to desperately want to spend money (I wonder why.. ;) )

Would we be any better off if Usmanov's name was over the door instead of Moshiris?
Surely we are limited by rules governing our expenditure regardless of the personal wealth of our owners?
If Usmanov arrived wouldn't that close certain avenues of potential financial input off to us.? (FF sponsorship for instance).
Having Moshiri own our club is effectively the same as having Usmanov (as the BBCwould no doubt attest), but happily allows us access to financial pathways which would be closed to us.

There are lots of things you can spend money on without affecting FFP
Off the top of my head money spent on a new stadium would not affect FFP
An upgraded FF to match Man City’s training ground would not affect FF
Money spent on youth developement would not affect FFP
If Moshiri/ Usmanov paid for these and other outlays out of their own pockets it would leave more to spend on players etc
@hibbo'sclass and others can give more exact details.

Genuinely worried about this fella's health

He's the picture of health.

Men like this are driven by power and ego, particularly when they have accumulated more money than they can ever spend.

At the moment he is in a position where it is like seeing the love of his life with another man. He has to watch while she goes home with him every night and he has full knowledge that he is never going to get a go on her.

Equally, his mate has a 7/10 bird that with a bit of money spending on her could be a real cracker, and he's more than happy to share. With the 7/10 he can do what he likes, when he likes, and he's been busting his balls to do so for ages.

Hopefully he will come and spray his lovely Russian love juice all over EFC very soon.
