Well it's easy to sucked in by that of course but has the fella had any success on the pitch anywhere cos personally I don't care much for new stadiums or overpriced season tickets and a load of hype. Arsenal have stagnated if not deteriorated since he's been on board. I know he's not the main man there but still if he was eager for success maybe he'd be letting people know he wasn't happy with the way things are going down there.
He may be on board , but he’s not on the board and that is a problem for him

Money aside, as the man has enough of it. Surely this comes down to him at some point wanting to go somewhere he can have control and showing why he wanted in.

Mate, you won't find a pension fund buying Everton shares or Arsenal shares. Why? Because 95% are owned by a very small number of individuals, so a) they are not liquid nor is there any price transparency, and b) because they would have absolutely no influence in the strategic management of the company. You simply can't compare it to having a stake in Facebook.
So pension funds have people on the board of every company they have a stake in
News to me

No offence but that post is wrong on almost every level.

Firstly you can't compare Everton and Arsenal shares. One is a private company and one is public ie floated.

Also Kroenke owns a controlling stake in Arsenal so where has your 95% nonsense came from? It's not mathematically possible.

As for price transparency obviously everton ones aren't that obvious. But that's cause they are private. Arsenal shares are on the stock exchange. They are completely transparent. As for liquidity, to suggest there is no movement on the stock exchange is hilarious. It's almost like you're suggesting places like the City, and Wall Street don't exist??

99% of people in the world who buy securities do not have board room positions. Nor do they want them. Nor do they care. They speculate, they invest, they buy, they sell, they make money.

This is tiresome...

Kroenke owns 67% of the common shares of Arsenal FC. Red and White Holdings (Usmanov) owns 30%. That adds up to, err... 97%. Free float? 3%. The fact that your text book defines a listed company as having a 'transparent' share price is neither here nor there in the real world. If you think that a 3% effective float is liquid, or transparent, then you've a lot of learning to do. How do you think a company like Arsenal could operate effectively with a 45% free float, including pension funds?? IF usmanov sold his stake, it could go to a single person, which would most likely change nothing, or he could theoretically 'float' them, which might get a bit closer to your text book theory, but with Kroenke holding 67%, there's still no way a pension fund would dive in.

Basically, @bluestevon got schooled on world history and instead of wiping the egg off his @rse and going about his day he decided to commence with the kopite shouts.

Fair enough, he can feel free to take it to the current affairs forum where I'l be happy to meet him.

But remember, he started the kopite shouts so anything is fair game now.

Must have missed the bit where i called you a Koppite, care to quote those words in my post?

As to taking it to current affairs, why on earth would i do that, you'll be banned again within the week lad so would be wasting time trying to educate you, already shown you from the same site you quoted, that you are wrong, jobs done, night night Big frankie, sleep tight, watch the Uzbeks don't bite.

No they don't generally, but if you hold say a 10% stake in a plc then you are an influential shareholder, and Boards of Directors of plcs recognise that the world over.

It is extremely rare, almost to the point of never, for a mainstream pension fund, or unit trust, investment trust or life fund, to hold more than 5% of any company they invest in.
