That bid was made with the full knowledge it'd be rejected.

You have to wonder what the motivation was.
Last throw of the dice, testing the water, I agree he knew it was a waste of time, he may as well sell his shares now but I wonder how easy that is going to be

Well maybe that's the point - set out the challenge. "You want the club so much, then buy my shares in it."

So the next step for him is to sell his shares to someone else.

Problem with this is I'm not sure who would buy them. He essentially owns 30% of Arsenal (for an extortionate amount of money) and has absolutely no say in any club decisions. Who would spend that amount of money when they realise that Kroenke has no intention of sharing power.

it's an investment mate. Plenty would buy them.

The 51% currently not owned by Moshiri, if bill sells his remaining shares to Moshiri/Usmanov doesn't that trigger a compulsory purchase for the remaining shares? Dunno I might be wrong

I may be mistaken here but I dont think it's a "one size fits all" with companies house. What I mean is, I DONT THINK the minor shareholders (myself included) can be forced to sell up. Bill (bless him) was even quoted last year saying the minor shareholders will not be going anywhere.

I did however read that as Arsenal are publically traded Kronke could make a counter offer and buy out Usmanov. Why would he do that when he already has control? He could then de-list Arsenal back into private status and do whatever he sees fit.

1. A lot of people would be interested as an investment, not because they want to be consulted on how the business is run.

2. Who says one person has to buy all 30%? What if it's three people at 10%? Or ten people at 3%? 30 is divisible by a lot of numbers.

Im not sure you are allowed to own shares in 2 clubs.
You are, that red bull fella has loads of them and both Leipzig and Salzburg have both qualified for the CL which is causing some issues for UEFA and the fanbases of those clubs. I think premier league rules state you can't have more than a certain stakeholding in multiple PL clubs (this might have been changed after the NTL fiasco though) and you can't have board representation at more than one club.

I could look all this up if I could be arsed but I'm at work and I thought one of our stats dudes would know the answer straight off the bat.

I think Kroenke owns 67% of the shares, which Usmanov bid £1B. Therefore his 30% would be valued about £450M.
