Usmanov

You wonder also if part of this bid by Usmanov is for him to try to rally board members and fans in support of him and make them more vehemently against Kroenke.

He's basically saying, "Here's I am, I want to own this club, I haven't got a say because this Kroenke blert is stopping me, come and back me and lets drive Kroenke out by making life difficult for him. Who's with me?'

At this point he'll see how the lay of the land is and who's willing to support him. If there's no real sea change in support then he'll probably draw a line under everything and move on.

He's probably seen the fun Moshiri is having at us, now having actual control, and wants a piece of that.

The other thing with Usmanov owning 30% and not being on the board - it's not so much Kroenke not letting someone with 30% be on the board, but more Kroenke hating Usmanov's guts. Two billionaires who basically don't like each other. If someone were to buy Usmanov's shares, particularly if they were sympathetic to Kroenke's cause, then it would solidify Kroenke's power base and Kroenke's may allow them to join the board.

If things start getting sticky for Kroenke in the new few weeks/months, then Kroenke may want the extra support.

Been saying almost exactly this for ages.

The board are all kroenke people mate. He will never ever give usmanov a voice and the pressures over after tomorrow nice big break for summer

If Kroenke does sell, but not to Usmanov. Then the buyer will make a hefty profit by then selling it on to Usmanov.

Hope it's true, but realistically, I just can't see it, at least not anytime soon.

My gut feeling is it won't be until the new stadium is built at the earliest.

Usmanov will want us to look like we are going places which will put more pressure on the Arsenal board from their fan base. Seeing Moshiri is modelling how he goes about business here in the same way he put down in the open letter he wrote to apply pressure to Kroenke in the first place, if we do manage to overtake Arsenal that should be enough to cause an event horizon to at least force it to the point he will know if he has any chance or not of ever getting his hands on Arsenal.

I think this years bid was just opportunistic seeing they are unlikely to make 4th but will just be the first of many until it is sorted one way or another.

And to all that think Kroenke won't buy out Usmanov, if you had something that is constantly jabbing a sharp stick at you and acting as a ringleader to get more people to do the same, I think you would spend the money to make the problem go away or at least facilitate someone who is more aligned to your ideas to buy them out.

Russian tycoon Alisher Usmanov and opposition leader Aleksei Navalny have exchanged bitter, strongly worded video attacks as they rejected a Moscow court's proposed settlement in a defamation case.

Usmanov, an Uzbek-born billionaire with ties to the Kremlin, filed the lawsuit in April against Navalny and his Anticorruption Foundation.

The defamation claim stems from a March 2 report by Navalny's foundation that focused on Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and included allegations that Usmanov gave expensive property to a foundation linked to Medvedev at no cost.

Hours before a scheduled preliminary hearing in the case on May 17, Usmanov released a video on YouTube calling Navalny a "loser" and a "failed businessman."

Speaking in a manner that for some viewers evoked the jargon of Russian crime bosses, he addressed Navalny by the familiar form of 'you' and by the nickname Lyosha -- short for Aleksei.

"Your attempts to slander me are like a puppy's barking at an elephant," said Usmanov, who pointed to Navalny's two politically charged financial-crimes convictions and called him a criminal.

He urged Navalny to apologize and made a sound suggesting he was spitting on Navalny.

After the parties rejected the Lyublino District Court's proposed settlement, Navalny fired back with a video, in which he called Usmanov "a beginning blogger," and "a bribe-taker, a bribe-giver, a crook, and a fraudulent man."

Usmanov -- now one of Russia's richest men, with assets in mining, media, and other industries -- spent six years in a Soviet prison in the 1980s but his conviction was later overturned. He was exonerated in 2000 by Uzbekistan's Supreme Court, which ruled that the case against him had been fabricated and no crime was ever committed.

Usmanov's bearing and body language in the video drew mockery on social media, but Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova came to his defense on Facebook, praising him for what she called a "man's" response and saying his video will be studied "at universities by rhetoric and PR specialists."

Navalny's allegations against Medvedev helped galvanize nationwide anticorruption protests on March 26.

Navalny, who was jailed for 15 days over the protests, is calling for a fresh anticorruption demonstration on June 12.

He wants to run in a March 2018 election in which President Vladimir Putin is widely expected to seek and secure a new six-year term.

He announced in December that he would run for president in a March 2018 election in which President Vladimir Putin is widely expected to seek and secure a new six-year term.

Russian authorities have suggested that Navalny would be barred from the presidential ballot due to his financial-crimes convictions.

However, Navalny's backers say the rules are unclear and the anticorruption activist has pushed ahead with his campaign.

Election officials have still not stated clearly whether Navalny will be allowed to run for election.p

Intresting quote from Arseblog..

"So, what about this bid? How should we view it? My feeling is that Usmanov knows fine well that Kroenke will never sell to him, regardless of how much profit he’ll make, and is now fed up with being a dead duck at Arsenal. His former partner in RED and WHITE SECURITIES LTD, Farhad Moshiri, now has a 49.9% stake in Everton, and when we ran a story last August saying the Uzbek was willing to sell his Arsenal shares to go there, it prompted denials but that was a story based on good information and it’s one we stand by."

Early on this year people, who work closely with Everton, Moshiri and people who are dealing with the new ground, seemed convinced that Usmanov would be at Everton in the near future.

Who mate? Can you name them? And please don't quote WRD as your source.

It's a clever play by Usmanov- probably his final play. He knew full well his bid would be shunned, but he's probably increased his share price/value in the same instance.

It's possible he's aware of other interested parties waiting in the wings ready to bid/invest.

Think there's more chance of him selling his 30% now more than ever.
